Does it matter how or why he won the contest?

He did use the boat to get back to the US, right?

Was he alone on the boat? Or did he just catch a ride with someone?

I suppose that's one "good" thing about my degree (aero engineering), there aren't too many terms/words/etc that have "alternative" meanings.
What, like cockpits, turboshafts, thrust, nozzles, corkscrews, ram drag, payload, flaps, and wind tunnels?

Don't know anything about him going back home actually.

He was alone on the boat. The boat is his, btw.

to save you from asking a certain question the answer is:
No, he did not win the boat from the contest.

So the weapons were smuggled out of the US then?

Was it the people holding the contest who hid the weapons on his boat?

Was it the people holding the contest who entered him into the contest in the first place?

Was the contest only open to people who owned boats?

If it matters, were the weapons for: killing stuff? Destroying things?

Um... not sure. The people holding the contest didn't hide the weapons. But the people who made made him win the contest knew the weapons were on the boat already. Also, from my understanding the people who made him win the contest didn't hide the weapons.

Nah.

I dunno.

Did Blake know the weapons were on his boat and was just too dumb or forgetful to realize he shouldn't be taking then out of the country?

Did the people who made him win the contest benefit financially from the smuggling? Or benefit politically?

Probably, but irrelevant.

Were the weapons already on the boat when Blake bought it?

Did the people who made him win the contest also sell him the boat?

Did the people who made him win the contest plan the whole thing, so that whoever bought the boat would have a reason to take it to the island?

Good questions!

No. Someone else who was in the group involved with smuggling the weapons was going to do the smuggling. Something happened to that guy, so Blake ended up doing it (without knowing of course).

This is more convoluted than the mystery of the drugs hidden in the police car.

A network of smugglers had a sailor but he was out of action, so they sold a boat to Blake with weapons on it. Then they rigged a contest so that Blake would win a trip to an island and take the boat there, facilitating the smuggling.

Cool story bro, what else do you wanna know:

Does it matter what happened to the guy who was originally going to do the smuggling?

Does it matter how the contest was rigged?

But, they didn't sell the boat to Blake. They just entered Blake into a contest that they rigged. Need to figure out where Blake got his boat.

Yes, because it would provide a hint where Blake got the boat from.

No.

Did Blake kill the original smuggler and steal the boat?

Did Blake buy the boat? Or get it for free?

Did the original smuggler die?

Was Blake related to the original smuggler, and therefore got the boat by inheritance?

Blake got the boat from an FBI auction.

The original smuggler got arrested before he could deliver the weapons hidden on the boat.

You win!

A network of smugglers had a sailor but he got arrested before he could do the smuggling. His boat was in possession of the FBI, which was sold to Blake with weapons still hidden on it. Then the smugglers rigged a contest so that Blake would win a trip to an island and take the boat there, facilitating the smuggling.

Hah, close enough eh. Here, have a riddle:

People usually keep them on their bedroom shelves. The newer ones are the softest and girls enjoy them the most. You can use them anywhere, but only if you've got batteries. Each one has a hole in it and lasts over half an hour per go. What are they?
