Yeh. What I meant by that was that if the room had contained a large amount of water at the end it seems like a good idea to mention it in the question. But for some possibly obvious reasons itmay have not been mentioned. Or the question is from a point of view from somone who opened the door hatch to find water spilling out. They then saw a drenched room as how it was phrased in the question.
Note that I invented a hatch or door. I'm going to guess that the room was part of a submarine? I can't think of any other type of underwater room.
But WTF did the man break the window?? Was it to do with a bet in the poker game? Maybe they didn't chips so he said "I know let us use window shards. I wonder why this glass is here anyway...."

it would make it kind of obvious if it said in the question that the room was full of water...

Did the man break the window accidentally?

Did the window get broken before the game of poker started?
Yes, as Bob already found out.
The game was played in order to decide who will get the lifejackets and who won't.

Is the broken window to do with the position of the table and the chairs?

Did one of the men break the window?
Was it an outside force that broke the window?

No
Did one of the men break the window?
Yes
Was it an outside force that broke the window?
It was one reason for it.
was it god?
No
how did they play a full game of poker so quickly?
One round doesn't take much time...
Ok I think this mystery is solved. here's the whole story.
A submarine designed for three people was um... diving (?). There was one man too much in it and the submarine didn't work as well as normally. The decided to play some poker and drink some brandy. One of the men opened the bottle but the corck caused a cracking into the window. Since it carried one man too much it had gone too deep so the pressure and the corck were too much for the window. Also there were only 3 lifejackets (hanging in three hooks) so one of the men had to sink with the submarine. They played a quick game of poker to decide who's going to stay. Three men put the lifejackets on and waited until the window was covered by the water, broke it totally and left through it. The fourth man drowned when the whole room was full of water. how sad.
Good job, everyone

I asked "Was there a cork that shot out?" and you said No!
