One can imagine how a sniper rifle in a first-person shooter might take advantage of those kinds of controls.
Put the two parts together and It's funny.
I think it will either work fantiaticly or Flop so badly it blows up the moon. If it does flop, so can use the pad as nun-chucks.

Hmm, does this mean the TV is going to have to be in progressive scan mode? (the g-con light guns have to be in that scan mode)

As far as I know, No. I don't think it works like a light gun per say. You stick 2 sencors either side of your tele-box and it reads it from that.

Nintendo are the definition of innovative.
I might just have to buy a console for the first time in 7 years ^^

Ah good. I hate having to put my TV in progressive scan, give me a headache from all the nasty flickering.

Indeed, Nintendo's actually focusing on the GAMES, where everyone else is trying to go "Look at ours, it's prettier, therefore automatically better." And believe it or not, people buy it. That Revolution looks sexeh. And downloading old games is pretty damned awesome too. Of course, I do have an N64 and a Super Nintendo as well, but the games will probably be cheaper to download.

Will Rare's back catalogue of games be available to buy through the revolution or will having been snapped up by Microsoft stop this?

There are Rareware games in that list, but no CBFD.

While Rare made the game, I'm pretty sure that Nintendo owns the IP, as is evidenced by their making Donkey Konga 1/2 and Jungle Beat for the Gamecube, and Mario vs. Donkey Kong for the GBA.
As for Nintendo, I really think they're on the right path with this one. I've said it several times in other forums and I'll say it again, Nintendo can't possibly take Sony and Microsoft on in the console race. The only thing they can do is make themselves original, which is a great boost for anyone that achieves it. Have a look at the history of controllers by generation (NES is gen 1):
1) Creation of the controller itself.
2) Creation of the shoulder buttons.
3) Creation of the control/analog stick.
4) Creation of wireless controllers (this is PS2/Xbox/GCN)
5) Nothing for the next gen.
Why is there nothing for number 5? Because the controllers that Sony and Microsoft are using are technoligically the same as the most advanced, previous iteration. Nintendo's controller isn't a new evolution either, it's a whole other ball game, and that's going to sell by itself. Now, we have the fact that the Revolution is going to be the cheapest controller, will have the cheapest games (it costs a millions less to develop for the Revolution than the other two platforms), and most likely will have the least costly accessories. This allows Nintendo to undercut the prices of the other two consoles tremendously. All Nintendo needs to do now, is set the plan into motion.
Edit: Harry, they can't get CBFD, because Rare DOES have the IP for that. Otherwise, they couldn't make a re-release for the Xbox.

donkey kong was nintendo's creation from back in the days that they only made plushies and playing cards.

I dunno about your statement that nintendo couldn't win the console race, as I'm sure they could if they actually tried to, but that's an entirely different matter :p
but yeah, I posted pretty much this same argument on teh Team17 forums, so I agree with you totally on the rest of it. nintendo have completely seperate themselves from the others by doing more than just making their games prettier.
....yet another reason why I'm a nintendo fan.

it's a TV remote, how would it be heavy??

He means when it's connected to another controller. Like the proposed shells.
Personally, I don't think the weight will be that bad. It can't weigh much more than the PS2 controllers, if it even weighs that much. Though, if there's an N64 controller shell, it'll definately weigh a lot .

Well... um.. thats errr... different.
It's impressive I'll give them that. But why a TV remote I'll never know.
What happens if you have to scratch your ass and your hand moves then something happens on screen?
Pretty screwed then aren't you?
Edit: Voted for "HOLY SHIT!"
Edit 2: w00t! 1700!
