If you haven't already, you could download the free game Trackmania Nations and see if that works on your computer. If TMN works, then TMU almost certainly will too. Of course, TMU is a slightly newer game so it probably needs a little bit more CPU etc.

erm... i had to notice that tmu runs much faster with more ram. i still have my amd 2800+ with a radeon 9800 pro and now 1.5 gb ram
