Plus, is a PS3 upgradable? Will it become completely obsolete in a few years? No it isn't and yes it will.
Almost. Consoles are getting more and more flexible and high tech. Both the 360 and the PS3 seem to now be able to connect to the internet. This makes way for patching up games on a console.
And consoles arn't upgradable, but upgrading a PC actually costs about the same amount of money as "upgrading" to the next generation console. Arguably, the price difference in these generatons are getting aggressively steeper, but if you want to keep a high performance gaming PC up to date it does cost a bunch.
EDIT: HOWEVER, I'm not arguing pro consoles. I don't own any console, just a super-cool vista loaded gaming PC (which actually works now, and as smooth as ice). So far, no lame b ugs or mishaps with the OS, and all for about £700. But not my point. I'm just getting rather afraid that consoles are catching on to the advantages that a PC has over them

PCs still have a keyboard and mouse. That already gives them a huge advantage that consoles don't have.
Plus, it is far easier to customise games on PCs than consoles, plus, you can take it much further.
Also, on a side note, almost every game comes out for the PC in some form.

You do realize that the Dreamcast could connect to the internet too.. and look at what happened to that console.

Was as good a connection as the ones with these consoles?

360 and PS3 and things like that are pointless with the internet, this is because you have to pay for the account and then pay for the internet conection. it is pointless.

WRONG! that's only to play games on the internet, if the companies wanted, they could very easily do a hardware update via internet as long as there's internet connected to the console. wouldn't require a service charge.

Yah but now go into the living room and look at your wii.
Firstly, you'll notice that you have one. This means that they are selling and they are selling because they are great consoles to play on. This is a good thing for the wii.
Secondly, you'll notice that their controller is rather different from your normal console. This reflects the diversity that consoles are getting nowadays. So its kinda inevitable that, if the wii controller dosn't take your fancy more than a mouse and keyboard does, there will be some peripheral in the future that a console will come with that will dominate the mouse. God knows what: if we did we would already have it.
That is my point.
EDIT: if you don't have a wii, go sit in a corner and pity yourself for a bit.

Been there, done that.
It will however be, I predict, quite a while before anything is released that will rival the mouse in most, if not all aspects.

Well, the Wii does have some advantages, but the mouse and keyboard is very well rounded in my opinion.
Then again, I havn't got a Wii of my own and have only played on it a couple of times, so I'm in no real position to draw a good comparison.

Don't get me wrong, this really is fun for a while. What next though? Once the novelty and hype has worn off what are you left with? A last gen console with a gimmick that you are going to get bored of. It is going to get pretty samey after a while. You can't even play DVD's on it, let alone HD-DVD or Blu-Ray. PS3 has sold over three times more than the Wii already, and it hasent even come out over in the UK yet!
