Probably because I can only watch it on Channel 4, which show old seasons more often than new. The newer Simpsons is alot more random. It seems the producers are runningout of unique things to do with the flexible franchise. That said, the randomnisity is still very entertaining, if not slightly embarrasing to watch at times.
