Well it looks like the Longhorn project has been scrapped and a new operating system has been unleashed.
Windows Vista.
Bringing clarity to your world.
Today we live in a world of more information, more ways to communicate, more things to do. There is more you can do and even more you can discover.
Every day, millions of people around the globe rely on their Windows PC to manage their increasingly digital lives. While familiar tools for managing digital information are powerful, today's world requires more.
In today's digital world, you want the PC to adapt to you, so you can cut through the clutter and focus on what's important to you.
Introducing Windows Vistaâ„¢
It enables a new level of confidence in your PC and in your ability to get the most out of it.
It introduces clear ways to organize and use information the way you want to use it.
It seamlessly connects you to information, people, and devices that help you get the most out of life.
If you go to Microsoft's home page you will also find a video of it's revealing.

But very little of it
The fact that have brought its attention to me is that we will be able to have microsoft evrerywhere: in portable PCs, in PDAs and even in mobile phones

I think it's just Microsoft's excuse to have more time before releasing their product.

um.. isn't vista just the real name? longhorn has always been just a project name until they had a final one, I believe. That's what they always do.

Longhorn was a ridiculous name. All the Microsoft codenames are here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_codenames

What, like cockpits, turboshafts, thrust, nozzles, corkscrews, ram drag, payload, flaps, and wind tunnels? |

Some of the original names are better than the final names:
Daytona -> Windows NT 3.5
Cairo -> Windows NT 4.0
Wolfpack -> Cluster Server
Hydra -> Terminal Server

In case you're too lazy to check before posting something, the original name of Windows XP was Whistler - since the announcement of the project and short before it's release.
Blackcomb is the name of Vista's "successor", a Windows for server systems, estimated to be out in 2011.
