Well the fact that you can't create maps doesn't help either for Worms 3d
And the fact that the map editor has existed for months (I think a year now) and still hasn't been released REALLY doesn't help.
Well thats a shame, a map editor would be great for W3D.

3d ropes DOES work..

Look at spider man for PSX / PS2
T17 just used the wrong engine. The W3d engine is based so heavily on gravity and trajectory that they did not account for what would be needed to keep a worm afloat.
The sad part is most of the code is already there.
Te basic Bazooka uses:

[*]Gravity
[*]Inertia
[*]Velocity
[*]Trajectory
[*]resistance
[/list]
all are variables involved for shooting a zook.. as well as having a worm rope. A ceiling wold help to,

I think T17 deliberately made the rope in 3D crappy because they'd already made a game where the ninja rope was such a big factor.

Yeah maybe they should've come up with something different. There are still 'elite' ropers on Wormnet3D, it's crazy to watch them do so well with such a crappy utility.

Hmmm I think real-time worms would be good but I think it would be just controlling one worm if they did that, somehow I dont think the whole switching worms thing would work in real time very good. Also,some games wouldnt work as good in real time such as BnG. I have only played the demo of Worms3D because the EBgames where i live isnt going to get anymore in. I agree in saying that team17 probabaly made the rope crap on purpose.
If they made a real time 2D worms game all everyone would do is rope just like it is now. Its hard to find someone who will play a new game or try something new that doesnt have rope on wwp wormnet.

ooo! the thoughts! after playing Liero, I understand how awesome real-time worms would be, especially if done right. I'd imagine 1-worm teams would be the only way to go though, but it would still be awesome to SG a roper out of the sky! or to intercept a zook with a girder in mid-flight. or even the occasional mid-air zook and roper collision ^_^
the bastard ropers need some payback ^_^

I stick by what I said on Page 2 of this thread, about it being like Sonic Heroes.
I think that would be the better option, easier to control a team of worms, each having special unique ability, and swapt between them when ever you like.

I think he was referring to Team17 staff, not forum members. But... swed simon, TonY, kikumbob, Star Worms, and a handful of others that pop in here still visit the Team17 forums...

It is on Team17's boards but the only way they'd do something about it is if a publisher came to them with big plans.
But if you ask me, the game would be better if people in the community made it rather than Team17.
