Does it make you feel more l33t to make a bevel yourself with gradients instead of using a filter?

Filters were made for a reason. They are not cheap. You wanna spend 10 hours on a 30 second effect thats fine by me. But i wonder who would be better value for money as a professional graphics designer.

People look at your images for a split second, if they look wrong they notice. No-one sees the difference between good and great unless it's the focus of the piece. (for example posting an image for critique, as opposed to a button for a website)

The lighting is dreadful. Just look at the shadows around the body. It makes it look almost 2d. And what is it supposed to mean? It has no meaning! It's terrible just terrible. Redo the whole thing.
