yeah i agree, good graphics can draw you in2 the world that the game is trying to create better than poor graphics can.

Well, it depends on the quality of the graphics. The old Mario and Zelda games, though lacking the advancements of graphics today, are still fun to play. In fact, I just started Earthbound for the SNES again.

However, when the graphics are so poor, even on advanced consoles, that you can't tell what's going on, that's when graphics affect gameplay. Also, while graphics do make a game look nice, to many can cause the game to slow down (or even crash), which makes the game suck even more.

So my opinion is... 20%

1st person shooters should have good graphics.....but games like worms don't need it.....

Well ok. Graphics do count if you just shelled out £120 on a new console and the graphics are shite.

But games like Ultima Online and System Shock 2 weren't necessarily the most beatiful in the world, but they were, in UO's case detailed and expansive and in System Shock 2's case, absolute survival horror took you over and gave the game a tense and atmospheric feeling.

Although it doesn't take much graphics to create a pitch dark corridor...

ahhh, i played a demo of system shock2, must of jumped about 20 times , because ya walk down a coridor and something will explode right beside ya. bloody good game

Grafic is very inportant part of game
When somebody wants to buy game, and he dont know a thing about it, he will first see how is grafic and, then does story of game is good, and then gameplay and other things. Becouse that lot of crapy games have exellent grafic

i disagree zlooxy, this is what i rate the most in games:

1. Gameplay
2. Playability (controlable, fun etc)
3. Multiplayer
4. Longevity
5. Replay value
6. Gfx
7. Story

3. Variety

5. Graphics

i rate things mostly like this, but people who dont play games alot dont do like this

plot doesnt mean jack - i want a game that fun - i want plot i'll read a book.

personally a game is good when i dont stop playing for 6hours after purchase. SSX3/TRICKY and Jak2 TIMESPLITTERS 2 ( simply amazing gfx i mite add )

but i think the most annoying graphical enhancement is the shishy zoon rotate freely cameras. IMO they dotn add muuch to the games except bump the required specs up. I dont really want to zoom in so far i can see my characters nostril hair but i can on some games.
