More realistic graphics can allow you to get deeper into a game, or at least make you think so. It's not so much that good graphics make a game better, but bad graphics can make a game worse. Also when the graphics aren't precise it can piss you off, like in Worms 3D when you fall through the top of girders and other misc. shit. It depends on the type of game.
