I can't see any reason for the forbidden message. iirc I have never added code to BTP that would produce a forbidden message so it is probably CBWhiz's code. edit: and yes the permissions and owner are correct, it's the same file before and after the form submit

zog: did you check the disk space on the server? and what about the server error log? anything in there that might point to the problem?

maybe the file got f*cked in the server cache -> delete it, call the page again to see that its really gone - then upload a backup copy and give new permissions.

I did.
Disk space is fine, although it did fill up while I was away it wasn't full when I started and it's got a couple of hundred MB free atm.
Nothing in the error log except the 404 on the bottom of the 403.
I tried copying the file to filesubmit2.php and the same thing happens.
I also did a grep but there are no header() calls in the whole of the code that would output a 403.

time to call the hosting provider and kick his ass - or do you host this site on your own machine at home? I've seen problems like this after servers were moving at the provider from one place to another....
