...I can't use bit files as maps? I guess I probably just need to know what programs can open .bit files, and it would probably work.

put .bit files in folder \User\SavedLevels\ then go into Worms and right click the map for the game you are going to play, then you should see a drop down box. In that box is a list of .bit files, select one and click load.
