In a console magazine lately i read the PC being called "the geek machine". I wondered if this is because the PC is older, more complex and more diverse than any console, or just because the PC has a bigger selection of games on offer. What does everyone think? Do you think that the PC is old and out-dated, or that it is the way to the future?

Reasons Why PCs Are Good:

1.If a game has a few bugs on it, you download a patch (if there is one). On consoles(most) you can't.
2.Online play is easy to set up.
3.More games (as you said)
4.Can be upgraded to move along with Technology but you need to buy a new one to have better technology.
5.PC games usually have more features like editing maps or creating mods than the same game but on console.

Reasons Why Consoles Are Good:
1.If you wait a bit or get one 2nd hand, they are quite cheap.
2.They can't catch viruses(easily).
3.You can have multiplayer with just one console.
4.When you go into 'GAME' there is a wide range of returned games which are cheap and good.
5.Can be taken to someone else's house.

consoles rule for first person games and the like where a CONTROLLER is needed. controllers for pcs suck ass.

and pc's are where my games like c&c and god sims reside.

if u got broadband a console just got a whole of alot groovier methinks

pcs are more expensive because of ^^^. game designers for pc games assume everyopne has superfast top of the range pcs, and if u dont u either spend heaps of cash on a new graphics card of whatever, but console designers design games to put the concole to better use, so the games will improve without ever needing to upgrade ur console

For a quick multiplayer fix, yes, consoles are better. However, Worms Armageddon was released for PS1, and it had multiplayer just like the pc version. however it didn't have online capabilities, so it didn't sell as well as the pc version. But, now consoles have started to have broadband, i think a lot more people will turn to ps2 etc, because you do not have to upgrade a console every 6 months to keep up with new technology

I have had this PC for 2 years and it still copes fine with Hi-spec games like UT2003.

I also don't care if people make fun of PCs or Consoles because I have both. Gamecube, PS2 and have an XBox one week one, one week off(share with a mate).

also on that ps1 game it didnt have map edit . Or that i could find. Also no scheme saving or really any of that.

yep, consoles suck for editing or creating but are good 4 portability. I can't count how many times I have taken my PS2 to other people's houses wher ethey are less fortunate.

Are you implying that pc is for people without many friends?

OoOoh. But with console games you still can edit them. Like my FF7 game. I kinnda messed it up. (a bit) kuz I got someone to edit it so it played One Winged Angel at every random battle. the bad thing is, i always have to face Sephiroth . the good thing is it was on another disk. Editing games for consoles cost money. Some krazzy guy wasted him money trying to get Tidus from FFX to have a Lightsaber as an Ultimate weapon and a leather jacket.

That is a bbit true. People who are sociable tend to have consoles more than other people. aka Students

lol im just to cheap to get them. My friends always come over and bring it. But now my friend with the xbox doesnt wanna play that street basketball game cause he cant beat past 450. So now i wanna get xbox just for that gaem but again im to cheap
