While browsing for alternate animation programs of the low-priced sort, I came across the program "ULead GIF Animator". I'm wondering - is it any good? How easy is it to use? Can I edit images from within?
Anybody who uses it that can help me out?
Thanks!

Fireworks is better.
It's a decent program and better than most programs, like the Jasc program or Coffee Cup. The closest example of how it works would be the example of sprites. Although you can't edit much within the program, you can create/import objects into it to fiddle with them seperately, instead of editing a flattened frame.

I had a feeling you would say that. It's too expensive. 300 USD for Fireworks 8, and no way to buy an older version.
I actually tried the shareware version, and I find it confusing. When I try to drag a layer from one image into another image, it flashes and disappears. What's up?

I'm kind of steering away from Fireworks now and towards Photoshop.
I'm sure you can find a cheap version of it somewhere.

What's swaying you towards photoshop? In comparison to fireworks, I don't know that much about photoshop but since it's an industry standard for graphics, I may have to begin learning how it's damn layer management works.
And why the sudden change of mind to go legal and buy your software, joe?

Whatever it is, it must be at least a lottery winning.

the only ulead gif animations I've seen have the little mark on top of them with the program's name.....I'd imagine that's only with the trial, but it's damn annoying to see people using it :p

I sounds like nobody here uses it...maybe that means it's not good quality.

Ssh! Conscience. Shh!

Actually, speaking in legal terms, I have found a copy of Photoshop 7.0 for $300. Amazing that an old version managed to survive...

fireworks and photoshop are very similar programs now, I believe. Since adobe took over macromedia.

Aye, I tried a while ago and no matter what I did, they didn't want to work. This was in MX though and they might work in 2004 or 8...
