I was originally going to buy a PS3, but then the price shot up $200. So, now I think I'll go with a Wii. I'll be able to play SSBB with people all over the world and own them as Solid Snake or MetaKnight.

You are all missing the point, the reason they are making this console the way they are is because they are going to start a "Revolution" like they did by being the first 8-bit console to be used in a family home. It is meant to appeal to all ages, no matter what race, origin, age, or interests. The reason they named it the Wii is because by starting a new "Revolution" they had to make the name a "Revolution" as well. By having the name we resemle, "We" as in "us" being that it is meant for everyone.

nintendo was asked to put snake into the new smash bros game and it's already happening whether you like it or not. he was in the trailer video if you don't believe us.
and I completely fail to see your point with the rest of that post, spleet. it seems to be completely irrelevant...

but anyway, I'll be getting a Wii. I was sceptical because I'm more of a computer gamer, but after seeing the controller working just how I'd hoped it would, I am now convinced that it is the one system worth buying even by those of us who prefer PCs, so I'll be getting one to play my wife and friends.

Nintendo doesn't have to own the character to put it in SSB, however, it is much easier with only Nintendo IPs. All other IP have to have licensing fees paid and permission from the owner of the IP for it to be placed in the game. From what I can tell, Koijima came to Nintendo and asked them to put Snake in the game, so there's your permission. And I would suppose that any applicable licensing fees would be almost nonexistant considering the free advertising Snake is getting.

If I was a sony fan, i'd be so pissed of that they got rid of the shock controllers and replaced it with some random image sensor that I dont think anyone will use or cares about.
