Why do you all have so huge displays?

Becuase we have large monitors that support large resolutions for large workspaces

Workspaces... umm... what are your occupations? Or whatever you need large workspaces for...

Workspaces in the virtual sense; the screen space.

Alot of people have LCD displays and the majority of these monitors are 1280*1024...

Larger desktop = more stuff fits into it. Try browsing at 800x600 and 1280x1024, you'll see that your overall browsing speed, both web and local, is affected by the resolution somewhat, since more items are on screen and in your view at a time.

Also, most LCD screens are designed for a certain high resolution, mostly 1280x1024(some newer ones have 1600x1200). Set a resolution lower than that, and everything starts to look blurry and distorted.

Finally, many modern applications, games and even sites on the web are designed for viewing at 1280x1024 at least. This resolution is also the easiest to find wallpapers and visual styles for, being the most widespread...
