oh well, my bad. anyway my point is... i guess... since you all (im assuming) aren't playing WOW anyway, that those playing WOW now played FF then... guess that doesn't prove anything. nevermind.

It proves nothing because I used to play FF but don't play WoW. I don't have the money for that boring-looking game. I hate mmorpgs. Guild Wars put me off them for life.

you're not playing wow, either. are you?

Nope. I tend to stick to strategy & driving games.

What, like cockpits, turboshafts, thrust, nozzles, corkscrews, ram drag, payload, flaps, and wind tunnels?

I half a agree and half disagree with him. I'm with him on the points that are made about time > skill, as I'm sick of people being higher level than me and therefore being better than me in duels. I hate the fact that I am WAY more skilled than many of the people with max-level characters but being lower level I cannot hope to win.

I agree that there should be equal rewards for solo-play, but i don't believe that requiring people to group up is damaging. games like WoW teach people how to rely on other people to help them obtain a common goal, how to work in groups to get where you need to be. there's nothing wrong with that, and teachers often encourage such group actions. now I agree that having the group aspect with very little solo-aspect is NOT a good thing, but the writer is blowing that way out of proportion simply because he's, as he said, an introvert.

his point on guilds makes NO sense, because he's saying that once you're in a guild no one else in the game matters and until you're in the guild you don't matter. this is completely wrong. guilds interact all the time. guild form alliances, and people make loads of friends from other guilds or from no guild at all. he is, quite simply, completely wrong about guilds.

his PvP statements promote cheating. he's saying it's ok to scam the system as long as it's possible. by saying that, he's justifying everyone who leeches the american government by refusing to get a job and living off of social security. from what he said, the people who cheat any and every system that's ever been created, the people who find ways around rules and anyone who's ever broken a rule is justified because it's possible.

as for the rest of you worrying about the WoW generation, I have to agree. the people learning from games like the ones out these days are getting some majorly warped lessons. if you ask me, every new gamer should be required to own an NES or SNES or an emulator and be required to play the basics such as mario, the various RPGs, and other games available on the system.

Well, life is not a computer program as far as I know. In a game it's a lot easier to restrict people from doing things than it is to tell them to follow a rule and have them follow it. Plus, when people break a rule or cheat the system, they might not feel as guilty if it's just a computer game rather than real life and the consequences are smaller.

what I was going off of was the statement of the article that games were directly teaching people lessons of life. in his statement on PvP he's saying that it's ok to cheat the system there. based on other statements about correlations between the game and life, this implies that it would also be ok to cheat a system in life. maybe not to the extreme that I mentioned, but things like social security here in america is a system that's exploited in exactly the same way as the PvP is exploited on many games, and so saying that one is ok is the same as saying the other is ok.

I agree. just because I can steal your money and use it for myself doesn't mean I'm allowed. We have laws preventing such things. They still happen-but you still get cheaters in video games, regardless of rules.

If he thinks these rules are wacky, does he think our laws are stupid, too?

It is illegal to be drunk on Licensed Premises (in a pub or bar).

Ok, so whats the point of pubs/clubs/bars if you're not allowed to get trashed on the weekend?

To have a good time? That's why if you are acting too rowdy in a bar, they throw you out
