The poll isn't multi-choice?
I'm learning #1 and know #2, #3, and #4.
EDIT: Hm, nah, I'd say I'm still learning #2. Not that good at JS right now
EDIT2: In 100 posts I'll have 911 (U.S. Emergency Number)

Pretty much all I do in that list is C++. I can do a bit of CSS, but I usually can't be bothered to >_<.

Start with C.
When you can effectively deal with pointers (and strings), begin C++.

I was learning php, but I decided to drop the class, way harder than I expected.

What happens if I go straight for C++?

that sould be no problem, i started learning programming with C++.
C++ is more Objekt orientated, but that shouldnt you bother untill you can handle with arrys, pointer, Memory usage on the Heap (including releasing the memory at the right time, you dont want bluescreens do you).
If you start with C++ you know the standart syntax and dont need tu upgrade from C to C++.
For example to Write something in a DOS promt C has something like printf(); and C++ has cout>>"";
Edit: Yeah it has been a while since i coded in C++, last authumn i learned Delphi

spent time learning the Win32 windowing API with C++.
Totally the right way to code....
C# is pretty good, C and C++ are much more low-level than is needed for ordinary tasks imo. The language needed depends on the task really.

I just spoke to a software engineer. And he recommended starting with VBS. And the fact that he is now fluent in 20-odd languages kinda sways me into doing what he says...

I agree with kikumbob. Once you learnd how to dode, for example when and to use a loop and so on, its very easy to copy all this logic thinking ito another syntax.

At that point, it would have been the right way to code. At that point all I knew about was windows
Now i'm more apt to use something like wxWidgets.
You are right in that C++ is low level, but you only need to learn the stuff once and then write re-usable classes.
