This is a guide to help people who want to broadcast video over BTP TV.
Firstly, download "NSV tools" from
this page.
Install it to somewhere like C:/program files/NSVtools (Which i think is default)
Now that's NSV tools has been installed properly, go download
this file and extract to where you installed NSV tools, overwriting everything. That file is a pack of all the needed dll files and such like to help gets things working with as little fuss as possible.
Download and install the
VP6 codec if you want.
Encoding:
Now that your software is ready to be used, you can start encoding files into NSV so you can stream.
I suggest that you use the batch encoder, it seems to encode things most sucsessfully for me and has a handy GUI, alternatively you can use a CLI(command line interface).
The batch encoder (hereafter refered as NSVate) is located here: "C:\Program Files\NSVtools\nsvate.exe"
Click "File>>add souce file(s)" (CTRL+O) and select the file you wish to encode. After doing so you can choose the output location and filename. You can also edit encoder options, to do this click "edit profiles", select "(default)" then click "edit".
Ensure that "resize to 320*240" is checked (Unless you have a killer upload). Now click "NSV encoder configuration". Ensure that the audio format is "Raw ACC v1.00" and the bit rate is around 24-40, depending on your uplaod rate. If you want to encode at a very low bitrate then choose 24kbps for your audio. The video format should either be VP3 or VP6.2, i'm not entirely sure which is better but i'm going to guess that the latest version is the best to use. You can fiddle around with the configureation here, but three are a few guide lines.
If you want to achine the bitrate you defined, you must make sure that "allow dropped frames (enables CBR)" is checked and the keyframe bitrate must be around 1/3 or 1/2 of the actual bitrate.
In NSV format options the min/max sync fram interval should be 10/50.
Now that you have configured the encoder options properly, you can start encodeing! Beware, this process is practically real time. And it's a bitch when you encode a 20min vid only to find the bitrate is too large so streaming is pointless.
To encode, select the files you wish to encode and click the green right arrow and wait.
Streaming:
Use the program located here: "C:\Program Files\NSVtools\nsvgui+.exe"
It doesn't come with the original NSVtools and it took me ages to find a decent GUI to stream. The original way is to use a really annoying CLI where you can't manage a playlist.
Anyway, I think this program is quite self explanitory. Choose a place to save the session file to and make your playlist. Make sure the shoutcast information is correct.
If you, say for example, broardcast porn and say the genre is Comedy, then expect to be banned from broardcasting. THis ban will be from Nullsoft, not knifa or anyone.
To start streaming, click the "actions" button and click "start streaming."
