Hey, I've a problem with me compy. I figure, I'm a dang foo' so I'll ask you good people. Straight to the problem. When I play anything that has sound, it plays in a higher pitch than it should (it's not ridiculously high-pitched, but it is noticably different). Not only that, but when attempting to sync a regular mp3 on the computer together with the same track on a CD in my stereo, the conclusion was made that not only was the computer playing things higher-pitched, but faster as well. Right, we've got the problem, now what? Update sound card drivers? And how exactly does one go about doing that (on XP)? IS it the sound card drivers? Thanks in advance, peeps.

your issue might be the sound mixer/equalizer. You might have changed somthing at the sound mixer/equalizer fo your Card, these settings are global. Take a loke at it first.
If you want to update your Drivers, just go to the Homepage of your Soundcard-Manufacturer and donwload the latest drivers.
The install tutorrials must be there on their homepage. But i think a usual install must be possible even at win xp.

I think MC is correct, I can't think of anything else for your problem other than something being changed in the EQ/mixer.

I have nvidia mixer and I can change the enviroment settings, like make the speakers sound like i'm in a hall or add delay to the rear speakers.

Alright, it wasn't even as complex as updating drivers. It was just a matter of clicking one thing in the equalizer... I feel stupid and happy at the same time. Well, all is as it should be, so let this thread sink back into the pages and die! Thanks for the adviceness.
