I used to log on to wormnet thru my dial-up modem, and it worked perfectley, it was very fast and no problems @ all, no I got a DSL line, when i try to connect I get a fatal error msg, I thought maybe its something got to do with the IP [on the dial-up i didnt touch any thing and it connected]

Now after I put the IP, I don't get an error msg, however u hear the worms fanfare, but then nothing happens, the window is empty...some1 help me out plz,

The wwp patch is required for online play, so ensure you have that first. Check the wwp website (http://worms.team17.com) for any ports that must be forwarded. (No doubt you have a firewall now that you're free from the evil clutches that is dial-up). Also, are you trying to connect though a router or a shared internet connection?

I've already got the patch....I'm using a wireless DSL connection....I have no idea what a router even is, sorry i'm network illieterat......

I'm connecting through the wireless Hub, or whatver it's called....so does this prevent me from playing online?

Mabey wwp.exe is blocked in the firewall. Do you run a firewall on your PC? Or does(if you have one) your router have the firewall? (You should check the manual for the hardware)

Open Ports needed? They might help.

What was the ports again? 6677 and 17011 wasn't it?

..thats for hosting, you should connect just fine without forwarding
Firewall however can keep you from connecting to wormnet1.team17.com:6667...

I don't think i'm behind a firewall, when i checked my settings on Firefox, it says direct connection...so what the hell could be my problem...

You don't think you have a firewall? I severly doubt that. Firefox isn't the place to go to see if you have a firewall. If you had no firewall, you'd have no connectivity problems whatsoever. Also your computer would be incredibly vulnerable to hackers and the like.

Seriously, you should atleast know what hardware you have for your network and what software is being run on it. Or atleast the admin of the network (I assume that you're not the admin) should know.

Um....I'm @ home, I'm pretty sure we don't have a firewall, I'm connecting wirelessley through a Siemens 6520 Speed Stream Wireless ADSL Gateway...I also got problems running p2p applications...I don't knw if this is related, but p2p applications' transfers are supposd to run a lot faster...the technician who set it up, told my brother to check if the IP is static, and my bro said it wasn't static...could this possibly have anything to do with it....i'm sorry i'm so dumb when it comes to networks...

anyways i could just forward the ports w;a uses for hosty and im off, and it connects to wormnet just fine

Try and reset all the network configs in the network options in the game, that usually fixes everything

You do have a firewall. I looked at the spec of your hardware. Also, why would you be asking what ports must be forwarded for worms to work if you don't think you even have a firewall to forward ports on?

You should beable to configure it by going to "192.168.254.254"(default network ip for the router).

well, yeah, theres 3 eithernet cables, one on left and right of the yellow one
if you can access the router you can forward the ports

http://192.168.0.1
usual username is: admin
pass is usually: pass/admin/etc.
if you cant get the username/pass, google your router/hub's model number and look for it

edit: damnit i keep thinking about hosting problems other than not being able to connect to wormnet

I looked on the manual for his hardware and the default network address is "192.168.254.254" which is why i said that instead of "192.168.0.1", so going there would be pointless because I doubt they have been able to change the default ip address.

I couldn't find anything about fowarding ports, unless if there's another name to it...

from what ur saying, I get the picture that forwarding ports is a way to get around this problem, can some1 plz explain it to me, explain to some1 who knows nothing about ports and stuff...
