W:A for the DC had no online play, but it did extradornarily well anyway. Sega decided to approach Team17 to make a version with online play. Since it wasn't exactly financially feasable to rely on one system (a dying system I might add), they decided to make versions for other platforms, including PC. And thus, WWP for the PC was born. But the patches by DeadCode [betas and so forth] allowed users to play W:A on Windows 2000 and XP. More patches unlocked more things to do, such as Rope Knocking Offline / LAN for example.
