Everyone has proberly been subject to situational music. I've found that there's generally two types of this music: Direct and Indirect (as I like to call them). Direct songs are like driving and fighting songs. These songs make you want to put your toe down a little bit more while listening to them or make you want to/fight better. Direct songs are usally made to do their purpose.
Indirect songs do the same kind of thing but on a more unintentional level. For example: Try playing worms without listening to anything. Then listen a selection of music, get a good mix of rock, metal, ska, punk, jazz, dance, techno, house, rap and classical. Just let them play through and see if you play any better or worse while listening. It's mostly Dance, techno and house music that works the best.
The intestity of music can also affect you. Lots of games nowadays have "Dynamic Music". SSX3, for example, has it. It's where if you're playing well, it will play the song at full volume with everything working, where as if you're doing badly or crash, it will only play a drum beat quietly. When it's playing fully it makes you feel like you're doing well and that you're going to win, but when it's playing just the drum beat you feel like "Arggg, I'm gonna lose this"
Has anyone heard any good Situational Music? There's lots of songs out there that envoke feelings. Whenever I listen to "Skatanic" by Reel Big Fish, my destination always like it has a bad vibe to it.

You've actually made a really good point there.
Like when I play W:A, I listen to Hardcore and it makes me play 10x better.
It's things like R'n'B and Pop that puts me off, Rock does do a good job on my gameplay...
...sometimes

Well, I find I rope a lot better on WWP when I'm listening to Ricky Martin, but if I'm playing a type that doesn't invlove lots of roping, I start making tones of mistakes.
Besides worms, I find classical music helps me concentrate, especially writing.

I usually don't even manage to pay attention to music when I'm browsing the internet. However, I do notice it while playing games, and my playlist has now been cleaned out of all 'slow' songs except for a select few.

faster the song the better, for most games. I was playing tribes vengeance yesterday, with some metal playing in the background, and I was kicking MUCH ass. the fast, heavy music seems to really work with intense games like tribes.

Yeah, I know you blast my music tastes to hell...
...but someone try out The X-ectioners + Linkin Park - it's going down while roping or something.

Taking Glenn's advice I've made my own "Action" playlist. Problem is with "Jacqueline" by Franz Ferdinand, It starts very slow for half the song than quick for the second half.
Very good song to rope to is "We Don't Care" by AudioBullies, on full bass. It's no fun without the bass.
One question, are there 2 bands called "The X-Ecutioners"? My friend keeps saying that they are a rock band where as I know them as a dance band (from SSX3). "Like this" is a good roping song too.

The only X-ecutioners I know of are the DJ group. They've had songs licensed to a few games other than SSX 3 as well.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2... a very good game indeed (you can have Spider-Man, Mega Man, and Ryu on the same team, for God's sakes, how could it not be awesome?), but its soundtrack SUCKS. It's all jazz. All of it. With occasional annoying vocals... not great fighting game music. However, when you're playing something like Burnout 3 with a custom soundtrack and American Idiot comes on, you just feel like destroying that extra car or two

my fav thing to do is set Last Resort on a list while playing a game. the second that comes on, it just seems like you need to put all your effort into winning, like it's your last chance.
playing Last Resort while playing a fighting game makes for the PERFECT combination, if you ask me.

Burnout 3 having American Idiot on it?
Is that console or have you got a PS2 emulator and Media Player open?

I have the Xbox version. Which has Custom Soundtrack support (I wish it had that for every game...).

Oh thank god! If that was in Burnout3 somewhere I would have to destory my disk. I hated the Burnout3 soundtrack, I'm just glad it's going back to techno for Revenge. (I don't know why B3 had a techno song at the start then went very downhill. Stop tricking us like that EA!)
Unfortunatly, SSX: On Tour is going to have a punk/rock soundtrack, they had the soundtrack so right for SSX3.
For anyone that watches Top Gear in the UK, they would alreaady know what was voted "The best driving song ever", and it was "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen. Now if a driving game had all driving songs like that in it, it might have the best soundtrack ever (It must have the engine Top Gear theme though, that was funny)

Music at W:A realy can put up the skill.
But when i listen to System of a Down it gets my skills down to many fast and slow parts in their music.
So the speed of the music might take effect on the roping skill...

To everyone that uses AudioScrobbler/Last.FM, I've created a "Worms Improvement" group. http://www.last.fm/group/Worms%2BImprovement%2BGroup
For those who don't know what AudioScrobbler/Last.fm is, it's a plug-in for many media players that records what you listen to and then suggests other songs you might like. http://www.last.fm. Our group is "dedicated to finding the best music to play Worms to"
