In my english class, we have to make a magazine about anything. I thought about the "...And finally" page in OPS2 where they have funny rants about things. This is my atempt at one of these. American's may find this slightly insulting, Mayby. (Robert in the interviews is me)
Rant view: America won WWII (Apparently)
āDear American, EA and countless film studios,
May I first remind you about a little thing called āHistoryā? World War II to be exact. We were the first nation into the war along with the French and the Russianās. We fought the Germans for years before America joined in and finished off the war.
And because of this, you think you won the whole war. Single-handedly if the video games are anything to go by.ā
Americaās latest victory in World War II is āMedal of Honour: European Assaultā in which gamers play as William Holt, a American Soldier, sent on missions against the German army, often on his own.
The thing that makes this one the gloatiest is the adrenaline meter. Once youāve spilt enough blood, you can go āin the zoneā where time slows down and you become 20 times more powerful.
Robert : āThank you William for stopping your war efforts to have this interview with usā
William Holt: āYour welcome, although, Iām still fighting Germans with my right hand.ā
R: āYes, so you are. Whatās your secret?
WH: āI can zone out so Iām super powerful and it seems as time is going slow allowing me to react 5 times as quicklyā
R: āBut isnāt that physically impossible?ā
WH: āTo the rest of the world, yes itās impossible. But Iām an American and Iām super powerful.ā
R: āBeing American doesnāt make you any strongerā
WH: āAMERICA RULES! AMERICA RULES!ā
*At this point, William continued to chant āAmerica rules!ā until he defeated the whole German armyā¦ in front of usā¦ with one hand.*
The amount of weapons William can carry is enough for the whole American army, and possibly half of ours as well. He can carry a Rocket propelled grenade launcher, a Thompson SMG, a anti-tank rocket launcher, 10 frag grenades, 2 semi-automatic pistols (That can be duel-wielded), a sniper rifle and a knife (For the stealth missions)
R: āHow can you carry so many weapons? There isnāt even enough space on your body to holster the weapons your not using.ā
WH: āAmericans can carry things. Big thingsā
R: āBut youāre the sameā¦ā
WH: āAMERICA RULES! AMERICA RULES!ā
For the next āMedal of Honourā game, EA are planning to add in matrix style stunt dives and flips just so America can look cool while they win World War IIā¦ Again.
They are also planning to add more explosions so America can RULE! OH YEAH!

Well, it is a bit humerous, but you skewed a few things.
1) Great Britain had been fighting the Axis powers for just over two years when the Americans entered the war. France fell in 1940, within one year of the war's start, which left Britain vastly underpowered, being the last remaining Ally in Western Europe. Russia DID NOT fight for many years before US involvement, they actually had a non-agression pact with Germany until Hitler invaded Russia in July of 1941, six months before America entered the war. Had the US not gotten involved, Britain would have been occupied by the Axis before the end of 1942.
2)Just because many Americans weren't directly fighting the war, doesn't mean that they weren't supporting it. The Lend-Lease Act of 1941 provided Great Britain and Russia with $50 BILLION in essential supplies. Back then, the dollar was much closer in value to the pound than it is now.
3) US plants built the tanks that were essential in defeating the Axis powers. Without them, there would have been no advancing past the trench lines.
4) The Americans defeated Japan.
5) Even though it is carried out to an extreme, the 'zone' ability in the latest Medal of Honor game is genuine. For some people, when heavily injured, and especially with a high amount of adrenaline coursing through one's veins., all senses are intensified, and time seems to 'slow down' for the person. The nervous system also cuts down on the ammount of pain the person feels. Now, this wouldn't allow him to take on an entire army single-handedly, but it would allow him to survive for a much longer period of time than would normally be possible.

Don't forget about Canada's part We had a large part in fighting the Axis Powers in WWII.
And in WWI we won Vimy Ridge when no other country/colony could, making a name for Canada and making Canadians very nationalistic. (that second part was a part of a question on our history exam)
And correction Glenn, the US nuked Japan into surrendering after stealing German atomic bomb plans from Einstein.

Erm... Einstein was working for the US on the Manhattan Project, it would make sense that they would have access to his plans...
Also, it may not seem like it, but the nuclear attack was a neccessary measure. When you talk about Japan during World War II, you're talking about a deeply militaristic country. They refused to surrender.
Here's something alot of people don't know. All of the Japanese were more than prepared to die. Had the American soldiers come via boat or air as originally planned, they would have had to kill EVERY Japanese person. If a child was old enough to easily walk and talk, he was old enough to carry a weapon to fight the Americans, anything from pruning shears to revolvers. Yes, I'm saying that they went so far as to arm 5 year-olds, and amazingly enough, these were more than ready to sacrifice their lives as well. Thus, in comparrison to killing all the people in the island chain, and suffering heavy American casualties as well, the nuclear attack didn't kill THAT many people.

It could very well be genuine but the way that EA tried to implement the feature, they were trynig to make it more like an action film and that Americans can pwn the world.

It's usually because American's make the game and usually plan it the most. So they design a game (with little historic knowledge) in the way they want it made.

If they made a game that had English characters in it who won world war 2 you might think they were stupid or whatever. They did that because they ARE american. If we (the english) had made these games then it would of involved us winning.

I have no idea or even care what happened 50* years ago... and I haven't played the game as well, but it sounds like the games campaign was wrong to begin with.
The makers of the game seem to support USA but probibly have little interest in the truth, perhaps, the games an alternate truth.
Whatever, I've seen these debates all over other boards.. pretty retarded to argue with when a games storyline goes wrong.
USA is the largest multi-cultral country in the world, with 2% of them being white-people .......
EA is a white peoples company they suck anyways.
edit: i have no idea what im talking about, 7 in the morning with no sleep in days

Almost all WW2 games make the US army look better - in some, it is made on purpose to please the patriotic teenagers, in all others it's an inevitable part of gameplay - since you assume the role of a US soldier, obviously you and the soldiers accompanying you will be more ressitant to damage than your enemies and be able to wipe out a whole Nazi division - since games made otherwise are either frustrating, or simply dull and boring *cough* Flashpoint *cough*
