I have a computer solely for games in another room somewhere. But ever since I installed the windows service pack 2 it has trouble starting up. It seems to always freeze on, or just before the welcome screen finishes loading. I havnt a clue what to do about it or what caused it. My only guess is that the service pack 2 did it. Id uninstall it but I cant actually get onto windows
Any ideas? You are a bunch of bright people, Im sure you have something...

Well, actually it works now. I restarted it several times and it decided to give in and start up properly. I then uninstalled service pack 2 and it seems to..um work.

I agree with you completely on that Readme. It doesn't help your computer at all.
Though, if you ever have trouble with your computer, the computer help people always blame your problem on not installing SP2. So I eventually gave it and installed it.

No, I'm pretty sure that ReadMe means that upgrading to SP2 turns the crappy XP OS into a halfway decent operating system, not the other way around...

SP2 is the microsoft product that is the most worth installing imo.
I've installed it on 3 different computers now and i've never had a single problem.

All SP2 does is put back what people usually get rid of.
Which is the abilty of Microsoft to scan computers for illigal software.
People found a way around this until SP2 was released and that put it right back in there.
Luckily I don't have any illigal software AT ALL on my PC

- It took up a huge chunk of my pie (memory)
- The worms map editor does not work.
- It took really long to install..

Microsoft don't scan your computer for anything except what you choose yourself - however, if your copy of Windows is pirated and the cd key was blocked by Microsoft, after installing SP2 Windows will cease working. If you have a genuine Windows, SP2 will install fine for sure. If you don't, there are still a few solutions. you can check them out in detail on software forums yourself
And, old software working under SP2 is not a problem - if an author cared even a bit about his program, it has been updated to work under SP2 ages ago.
