We're tidying up BTP's urls, you may have noticed the forum URLs being a bit shorter - now whats your take on the www. ?
Using either www. or no www. will mean you only have one login cookie. We plan to force one of them - but which one?

With www gives it a nice balance I think.
Shorter URLs are only better when you need to type them in. In this case we will be able to type in blamethepixel.com and be redirected to www.blamethepixel.com if we want to.

Eh...I don't understand...how would taking teh www. out of teh login cookie name shorten it down to one cookie...? I didn't even know you used more than one cookie...Ehhh...or does this have to do with the url? D'oh!

At the moment you get a different cookie depending on whether you visit the site with or without www. So if you are only logged in for with www, and someone posts a link without www, then you won't be logged in when you visit that link. If we redirect you to that link with www, then you will be logged in.

It's kinda nicer with WWW. And since you get redirected to BTP anyway, it doesn't actually matter much

I'm too lazy to write WWW.
I vote "without", but I have a feeling "with" will win..

I'm saying without, because I don't type www. The idea of a redirect seems reasonable though

I have no logic to back this up, but I voted "with".
If you choose "without", I think subdomains for things like the league should be avoided. If you choose "with", I think setting cookies for ".blamethepixel.com" would do the trick.

i'm not sure you can, cookies are pretty much client side controlled - and they only work for the originating domain.

To Khuzad, The Pope, and Meiapaul: WAKE UP! Those of you who voted without because you can't be bothered typing 'WWW' should not have your votes counted. The issue is which one you think looks better. I have already told you you will be able to type the URLs without the www. You will be seamlessly redirected. It is a server side redirect so you will not see a page that says "you are now being redirected to...". Same goes for the people who voted www because they are always typing www.
So does the URL look better with or without the www? It doesn't matter which one you type, the question is which one you would rather see in your address bar when you are browsing the site.
If you choose "without", I think subdomains for things like the league should be avoided.
There's no problems with subdomains that I can see, league.blamethepixel.com will surely redirect to www.blamethepixel.com/league or blamethepixel.com/league ...what's the problem?
