Its still in beta, but its coming along well.
http://www.blamethepixel.com/pm_main.php
What do you think of it?
Planned improvements:
-Delete threads
Rejected improvements:
-Editing individual messages
-Deleting individual messages
Possible improvements, if demand is very, very high (far in future):
-Send PM to multible people (and have them all able to reply)
Note: These could be emptied at any time before i take it out of beta - don't use them for anything important atm.

I was about to send you a PM, to test it out, but I was afraid I'd annoy you Looks intriguing so far, I'd like to see it fully implented soon.

There's different ways you could do deleting threads, what way were you thinking of? Would one person be able to reply to a thread that the other person has deleted?

Related: 'Closing' conversations. Both users will be able to close a conversation - this is analagous to locking a thread.
Deleting:
User A and User B have a conversation.
User A deletes his thread. He sees nothing more on his main pm screen. User B sees the conversation as closed. He can then delete it if he wants.
As you can guess, deleting the threads wont really delete them - just make them invisible. Which makes it possible for me to add an 'undeletion' page, which is an interesting idea.
Also note that once a conversation is closed (or deleted) there will be no way to re-open it.

In addition, this opens a new venue.
If somebody is harassing you via PM, you can send the link to an admin who will be able to read it and take appropriate action.

Sounds reasonable to me. I think the only issue would be to make sure people realise that deleting a thread means they are closing the conversation.
A trash folder to view your own deleted threads might be a good idea. Either that or User A can close the conversation without deleting it (otherwise only User B would be able to have the closed threads in their inbox).

You mean this isnt obvious...?

Quite Probable.

Of course, closing & deleting will be seperate operations.

Very tidy indeed CB.
Maybe an otion to turn off automatic saving of Sent Pm's? Incase some of us don't wanna save sent ones.

Gmail has an archive option that remove threads from inbox without closing a thread and deleting permanently.
Dont forget to write a privacy statement :p

I realize this, but don't think its necessary to implement.

You must be joking... Normal users can't read other people's IMs, but admins can iff they know the thread id number.

Is there any way of deleting things permanently and not just making them invisible. I would suspect that eventually the db would get very packed if you couldn't delete anything.
Perhaps if both users delete the pm (making it invisible) it actually gets deleted.

yes, so just write it down somewhere so it's clear that we can.

Planned - but then you can't undelete.
Last i heard btp had craploads of space anyway, and this pm system is more efficiant than the old one anyway.
in the old one, there were two copies of every pm - one for the sender, one for the receiver...

Yes I do. In the old system, you can delete a PM and still get a reply to it.
