I'll get it for X-Box (I'm DETERMINED to get one, the games not coming out for Gamecube that I want are really pestering me, I don't give a crap when the brand-spankin' new line of consoles come out). Hopefully I'll have one by then. Then again, I've no place to easily rack up $130. Time to sell, sell, sell...

eBay. There are people who do nothing more than take stuff for cheap on eBay, and sell it for a higher price and make a profit. There's gotta be some crap around the house that you can make up a story about.

Thats expensive, and i hate expensive things. Perhaps their should be an alternative, CD-R and DVD. I wouldnt mind having 4 CDs of an OS (linux Debian, like 8 CD's) as long as it works

Really, like I said, it's not realistic to package things in multiple CDs anymore. Sure, one DVD may cost more to produce than small amount of CDs (2-3) in short term. But, what it comes down to is size. What if you want to include capability to install/run on both Windows and Mac in the same box (which is more cost-effective than separate releases). With CDs, you'd have to double the amount of CDs in the box, whereas, with DVDs, you'd still need one for both installers. This can be compounded with Linux support (yeah, like they'd do that though...).
Also, another issue that comes up, and one that I never thought about until now, shipping costs. It costs more money to ship a box with several CDs in it than it costs to ship a box with one DVD in it, since the DVD weighs less. This is a similar reason for lots of computer games going to strictly on-the-CD/DVD manuels (another thing DVD is good for, it can hold an entire manuel with pictures and such, and still have plenty of room left over). Any shipping costs have one of two penalties:
A) The price of the game rises for consumers.
B) The profits go down for the developers.

So you can see why dvd is becoming a preferred format. Plus, a DVD-drive/burner is a long-term investment, you aren't just going to be using it for one game, you'll be using it for a multitude of games/multimedia/backup-files.
