Well since im finally getting ahold of a nice connection, next week i get to ceremnoiusly obliterate my dial up
im looking to try my hand at something thats always interested me, a mmorpg.
Thing is it would be a helluva lot more fun if there were some buddies to play with. Perhaps willing to start out with me, or suggest a game i could join them in.
So any players out here in btp?
world of warcraft seems to be the one every man and his dog are ranting on about, and i can probably get a copy just before the end of the month, before it comes out over in Europe.

As I said in IRC, I've got WOW, I got it being one of the closed BETA testers. Thinking of buying it from America cause it's really cool.

WoW is undoubtably the best choice for a MMO. Simply because EQ2, it's only possible opponent, isn't really as good as it could have been, softly saying. Over 250 000 players bought WoW in it's first day of the US release, and around 200 000 copies are already pre-ordered on the EU side.
P.S Buying the US version will automatically prevent you from playing with the EU version owners, so you'll be stuck with lots of battle.net kiddies. Don't do that if you live in EU

There will be separate servers for speakers of each language(French, German and English), so the legendary hordes of nasty french won't bother you in this game

Well theres that idea out the window, I was gonna import it from America, but now I'll wait till it's release in UK

It's damn irritating that we have to wait so long in Europe... Why have a beta test when it's out in USA? IT'S WORKING *sigh*

| Avast, 'tis a fine day to be sure.
Me and Ivan are going to get http://www.guildwars.com/ Guild Wars when it comes out. I think so anyway.
Apparently its a fee free MMORPG and it wants to make its moneh from expansions and the likes. We've played a beta test of it and its pretty damn cool as well as simple play.

Because odds are it's a beta test that's masquerading as a focus test.
I've seen the guild wars site, and I've also seen the pre-release box set for it, and it looks pretty good. Unfortunately, I don't have a fast enough net connection (and my computer's probably not good enough either).

well im pretty much shot on WoW now,
and im playing on the american servers.
More people i know will be on them,.
My mates going to pick me up a copy and a card whiole hes in america around the 20th. As well as a copy for himself.
works out at about 45 -50 quid for the game and the 3 months online we end with. Plenty time to play and decide if i want more or not, and at the cost of a ps2 game, not too bad at all.
so yay!

Don't you have to pay an arm and a leg to keep that game online though?

runescape is an mmorpg.
Though you already said that you lost interest in it, should you decide to pick it up again, you can always sign up at my boards, and we'd help ya out if you need any.

Heh, note the fact that WoW requires only a 128 kb/s connection to play well enough, and with a 256+ kb/s connection and over 512 mb of ram you will never have lags even on max detail with lots of people in one spot, because of the way the game is designed

Which Runescape do you play? 1 or 2?
