Which RTS (Real-Time Strategy for the uninformed) did you enjoy the most? I'll give some overviews of a few of the ones I've played (mostly Blizzard ).

WarCraft II- In comparison to more recent RTSs, this one's pretty simple, but I have fond memories of when I first played it.
WarCraft III- I haven't played this one much, due to my failure to drag myself onto the actually capable computer. But what I've played I liked. The hero concept was a nice touch...
StarCraft- Oh man. My all-time favorite. It's a classic. I played this one for ages... I still put it in the ol' drive occasionally. How's it different? It's one of the few RTS games that has three *totally* different races. Most of the others I can think of aren't terribly different in the race divisions.
Age of Empires II- This is one that IMO is great when you start it out, not so great as you play it for a long time. All the races are very similar, the unit voices sound alike, and it's quite complex. It's still fun every once in a while...

Uh... post? Pweaase?

Yeah, a mate of mine is huge on that series too. It looks awesome. I'd have bought some of em, had I total assurance that it would be compatible with my computer...

Starcraft, quite simply because it's the only RTS that I've ever played for any great length of time.

I haven't played many RTS games, I enjoyed Command & Conquer I and II: Red Alert for a bit.
Does Syndicate count as a RTS?

What, like cockpits, turboshafts, thrust, nozzles, corkscrews, ram drag, payload, flaps, and wind tunnels? |

The Battle for Middle Earth! It rocks.

Much better than all the games on Thnikkaman's list, they're like over 5 years old all of them.

Warcraft2, warcraft 3-still play this. And starcraft, stopped playing it because I couldn't get on battle.net(I downloaded it, duh)

edit: I have warcraft 3, tft(the frozen throne, it's an expension pack. Each race gets a new hero and you get tochoose from 8 different neutral heros+more units.)

AOE, AOM, starcraft, C&C, i could go on

I've played loads of them and liked them all, pretty much - the only ones i tend not to like are where the resource management is too complex.

Yeah, that can turn me off too. It's hard to micromanage when you have to pool units from 4 different resources It may not sound like much, but constantly upping your supply limit, always spending your resources while maintaining enough in case of an emergency, and producing units/buildings while climbing the tech tree can get rather complex. RTSs are generally hard games o_O

@ Khuzad, just you wait 'till StarCraft 2 comes out (which they have plans for, but probably won't come out for a good deal of time, we're STILL waiting for Ghost), it'll be amazing and put all other ones to shame. Hopefully by then I'll have a new video card... I still say StarCraft 1 is classic.

Hmm, I haven't heard of a StarCraft 2, but I'll be sure to get it if it gets made, don't worry! Don't get the impression from me that I hate Blizzard games or anything crazy like that, because I love most of their games.

I might go back out and buy Starcraft again, see if I can get into it this time.

From what you guys are saying it sounds really good if you sit down and learn it.
