That dont mean I go looking for trouble, but when it finds me, i never run.
I didn't run, I stood and took the punches when they came. I'm not afraid to get in a fight (I certainly wouldn't call myself small); if someone gives me some bother out of school I won't have second thoughts about bloodying their arrogant arse but if there are other routes to stop it, like teachers, I'll take that route.

Globally:
2004, like 2003 before it, hasn't looked good in the media. I can't think of many positive news events from the past few months. I just find it hard to convince myself that the whole world isn't that bad.
The ongoing war in Iraq is Not Good. The public's reaction to it is impressive, and I don't honestly think there'll be another like it very soon. Certain leaders have lost the world's respect and it'll be very hard for them to recover.
(The DeadBrain Review of the Year matches my opinions pretty well.)
Online:
The general consensus when I last checked the Team17 Forums was that 2004 is evil. But the Team17 Forums took up too much of my time and they were getting whinier and less friendly, so I left. I started spending more time on BTP, partly on the forums but mostly in the chat. There are concerns that too many people have power and too much attention is given to trolls, but on the whole I don't think it matters.
On the Internet, 2004 has been a year where people have to be very careful. Software patents, DRM, and various laws are harming freedom on the Internet.
In 2004, spyware went from bad to worse. Installing through security holes, uninstalling the competition, and all whilst remaining legal. And that brings me nicely to my next point.
2004 is the year of the Firefox. It's also the year I almost completely stopped buying software and music. And no, I'm not pirating it.
Personal:
I don't know.
I'm feeling tired and I've probably screwed up my GCSEs, but I don't seem to care. I've got friends, I've got music, and I've got comedy.
So here endeth the post. Sorry if it's all been one long ramble, I just needed to dump everything in my head somewhere.

Well, basically everything that happened for me you can see in my profile (so... addicted... to... BTP...). Not much happens to me. I did end up having a double toe avulsion and a knee injury though. I also went skiing for the first time. It hurt. A lot... Erm... I pointed out a bug (a very big bug) over the summer for the beta patches. I bought lots of games.
God, I running out of stuff to talk about...
Anyway, it's been a good year, and here's to another good year here at BTP!
Of course, everything in the real world that happened generally sucked, including the tsunami that occured just days ago...

Something else that happened in '04. Microsoft stopped making patches for Windows ME, as well as ending WHQL signitures for new drivers. My poor computer ...

Not only did they stop patches for ME, they stopped online customer support for it too.
They'll be doing that with Windows 2000 next so watch out

presumably they stopped support for ME cos it's a pile of crap and no-one with any sense uses it. windows 98 has a bigger market share than ME

Well, Win ME is a pile of crap. But some people (me) are stuck with it until they get a new computer. So why couldn't they have waited another year to discontinue support? We should be buying a new computer later next year.
