One too many crashes, one too many disconnections during downloads and one too many errors whilst playing online have pushed me over the edge.
I've always been one of the more tolerant people who use AOL, but I've come to despise it even more than the general hate you get from people who don't use it.
Anyway, could any of your brits recommend a BT line broadband (512k or above) ISP. It must not be restricted by download limits. I download alot in a month.
I've tried the tiscali and wanadoo sites but I've not had much luck with trying to find a contact email address where I can ask them what the upstream is.
And we're looking at around a £30 monthly payment (a 12 month minimum contract is acceptable).

| Avast, 'tis a fine day to be sure.
Is your dad gonna be paying for it then? If so, talk to knifmeh, as he has a pretty nice connection. I think its with NTL, so check them out. Also, Wanadoo dont seem to be checking my download rate at the moment, so its all gravy.

Ive been browsing around Pope ( in anticipation for our exchange upgrade )
Blueyonder and NTL are neck and neck.
BT are too fussy, with limits and slower speed for the money
One thing. Knifa had a link to something showing that NTL downsteams were going to fly through the roof next year. Thier 7**k line, shooting up to 2mbps.
Once i find out when exactly this would happen. I believe ill be going with one of these companies.

After the new year, NTL will be doing:
£14.99/mo - 1mbit
£24.99/mo - 2mbit
£34.99/mo - 3mbit
Link: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/11/03/ntl_q3_04/
BlueYonder are supposed to be doing 10mbit for £39.99 or something, but it might not be in your area.

problem is... NTL aren't a BT line provider. Provided this university line doesn't get upgraded to gigabit before NTLs gets upgraded, I think I'll have a faster connection at home than here... shocking.

Glasgow and Edinburgh iare the only scottish places done by NTL, they have pretty shite coverage. Bulldog DSL is the place to get your broadband, I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it yet....They won ISP of the year, and are generally good.
Bulldog DSL 1meg service
Edit: If you are served by NTL, they do some nice TV and Broadband packages. I'll be getting one as soon as I move for uni

the best broadband ADSL ISPs according to which magazine are $goologo $m[1] and $goologo $m[1], i use $goologo $m[1] who are also good
oh yeah, also $goologo $m[1] are good - dont go with a big name company - the traffic is much greater and tech supprot sucks.
Also dont buy their equipment, get your own off ebuyer, it's sooo much cheaper.
i'm too lazy to look up URLs so i gave u google links

Might I suggest Supanet.
I pay £22.96 a month for a 1mb connection.
Hows that? Good me thinks.
You get a free modem and software, 2 filters and you are connected within a few days of leaving your old ISP
Edit: Candy Man reminded me of download limits. Supanet 1mb has no download limit.
