... does your computer boot up?
Generally how quick can you get an application open.
How long is too long? does your desktop take ages to appear and finish loading deamon tools norton AVG yahoo msn those scripts you made and the internet connection as well as your spyware?
or is it smooth as a whistle and boots up effortlessly.
( yes this is a wierd topic )

My boot up is very quick. It takes around half a minute to start the PC up to when the welcome screen appears and then maybe 6 seconds for it to load everything up and I'm off!
I allow only the system processes and the minimum of basics to load at startup (McAfee Firewalland Style XP). Any virus scanners, media players, messengers or steam are only started when I say so. I've found it helps a bit.
The slowlest I've come across was joe's (squelchymcphee) old PC that took an absolute age (5 minutes maybe from boot up to when you could click a folder open on the desktop?) to load up.

I usually go to the toilet and have a drink while my computer boots up and loads all the anti-virus stuff.
I'll have to say "Nope, im left waiting for eternity"
edit: it's worth the wait though

Mine loads up quick enough. I wait about 30 seconds from I first see the desktop and icons before I boot anything up (Usally Winamp)

1min and 30seconds from turn on till im ready
20 of those seconds are caused by MSN, taking ages.
and 10seconds are due to the interweb

Mine loads up really fast, but it takes a few minutes to access everything. My internet is the last thing to load. I can open up firefox, but there's no internet to connect with until the internet loads.

Mines nice and speedy at boting up to the welcome screen, which occasionally feezes. It takes a bit longer to load the desktop and then i have to wait a few mins whilst it works in the background, starting all these random procceses. And THEN, only then does the welcome music start playing and I can open something which takes anything from 52 secs to 10 secs.
If anyone can tell me how to control when to start certain background programmes I will be very happy

| Avast, 'tis a fine day to be sure.
i fiddled with msconfig and it it made it faster by 15 secs! but then i think i got rid of loads of stuff, so i will be happy with 1min and 30 sec for the moment. And Ivan, i seriously doubt it takes only 30 secs for the welcome screen and then only 6 secs after, unless you dont have anything at the startup XD

Mine is ok. it boots up at around 30 secs. A while ago it used to be quick on the bootup but then ages until i can actually run anything on windows.
For now I say: Yes, im faffing about in no time at all

What I said is true, disbeliever. Your stereotypical view of my PC which was cloggy and cumbersome has long gone.
