Yes indeed. With all of the awesome games that came out this year, and with the year wrapping up, which game that you've played this year really "stood out?" I, of course, would nominate Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. The single player is enough to keep you entertained for weeks. Hell, I've played it for nearly a day in elapsed game time, and I haven't finished it yet (hmm, I got lost more than I thought.). The multi-player was an afterthought, pretty much. Still decent, but it can't compare to the frag-fests of Halo and the likes. MP2= Single Player. H2= Multi Player. Eh, but enough of my rambling. Post in dis thread, yah?

Steel battalion: Line of contact for xbox.
Definitly one of the best xboxlive games to come out. It would have been better if crapcom didnt ditch the game and not patch up the bugs and bandwith hogging issues...
But still was fun as hell.
Multiplayer only, now dead because of damn halo 2 =/

I nominate Half Life 2, that game rules.
Or Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory

I thought Halo 2 was not that good. Well, I didn't enjoy the first that much.
(now we wait for people to say I'm wrong :P)

I haven't bought any games for this year. I'm poor. The only games that I bought when they were brand new this year were FINAL FANTASY X-2 and Sword Of Mana.

Wait a sec. I remember I rent games too :P. I'm planning on getting that "new" James Bond game (the one with multiplayer missions and third-person view)

Halo2 was alright, but the campain could REALLY use a diferent ending, or make the campaign longer. I was expecting it to be longer..
Anther disappointment: The game loading textures during in-game movie scenes. Really repetitive
The xboxlive of it is alright, but to many CS players.
With the ending of Halo2, it makes it show theres Definitly gonna be a halo3. This.. is probibly a good thing, yet for so long waiting for halo2, turns out to be incomplete.

Funny, true Halo 2 story for you to show the average intelligence of the players:

I was playing an Assault game with a friend. Of course, everyone just started piling into vehicles to go kill each other in the middle of the battlefield and ignore the point of the game (I've noticed this happens in almost every game). We end up stranded at the base with no vehicles and we still had the bomb. So, here I am escorting my friend who had the bomb, on foot. But wait, it gets better. All this time that we're running to the enemy base, my friend is just belting out this long string of expelitives (very loud and in multiple languages too), and I was talking as well (trying to keep a conversation, didn't work too well). Now, I know that everyone knew where we were, because before we got 3/5 of the way to the base I had a bullet burried in my skull. So, I respawn, and I hurridly try to catch up to my friend. I only get 1/2 way across the map before I hear a massive explosion, and my friend coming back the other way (still hurling expelitives). The second time we managed to get a Warthog, so we had an easy victory. So, it shows that alot of people that play Halo 2 online are mindless idiots that just run around killing stuff and don't give half a damn about teamwork.
That's why Halo 2 isn't my pick of the year.

My pick will most probably be Gran Turismo 4 when it comes out in December. Or a tie between Jak 3 and Ratchet & Clank 3.

Probably Rome: Total War, but i'm not sure.

The battles are awesome, because you can have up to 10000 units in one battle. The campaign is really well made as well, as you have to take over Europe and some contries around it, by moving the armies around in turns and building huge cities. The game can also be played online.

My GOTY? Well, If it was the game I've played the most this year, It would be Halflife1+Mods. But, seeing as it didin't come out this year, I would have to say "Unreal Tournament 2004" As I've played this the second most. People may not work as a team (But not many people do on PC FPSs) but it does have a crazy amount of weapons (20+) and the Vechiles add to the gameplay, 2004 beats 2003 by miles.

Avast, 'tis a fine day to be sure.

I think i can easily say my Game Of The Year is definitely Half Life 2, as the single-player is incredibly cool, and having CS-S for free is a bonus ^^
But i must say that in second is Evil Genius as its such an original game and will keep you entertained for many many hours.

Well the game I played most this year? Halo

The game that has come out this year and have played the most? Call of Duty and it's expansion pack.

Biggest disappointments? Halo 2 and HL2.

i dont see how you can say HL2 is a dissapointment when you havn't even played it properly. It was definitely worth waiting for, the only downside is its killer loading times :/
biggest dissapointment for me would be GTA: San Andreas. it doesn't seem to have the killer instict of the other GTA's

Tony Hawk's Underground 2 has been great fun :D Also I haven't tried Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 yet, I'll probably get it sooner or later.

I suppose that's one "good" thing about my degree (aero engineering), there aren't too many terms/words/etc that have "alternative" meanings.
What, like cockpits, turboshafts, thrust, nozzles, corkscrews, ram drag, payload, flaps, and wind tunnels?
