Yeah, apostrophies aren't that big of a deal. I just naturally watch my typing close enough that I'll recover myself if I miss the ' key. But, it isn't really that far over there. Just move your pinky finger over one key...

Anyway, I can type fast as well, 50-60 wpm for regular english, and 30+ for l33t5p34k. So yes, it IS faster to type in english, even though I can type fast for both.

Well, I can type faster than 60 words per minute, but then I start sacrificing more and more accuracy. Which of course makes my words per minute drop back down because I have to go back and edit the words I messed up.

I still don't see why you guys complain so much about minor use of it (stuff like, brb, g2g, etc, since that stuff's only used occasionally anyway). the guys who type by leaving out vowels all over the place and replacing whole words with single letters ARE annoying, but not that many people do that unless they're new to internet and stupid. at least from my experience anyway.

I'm saying stuff like gtg or brb are alright. Those are "net" acronyms.
Net abbreviations (or shorthand if you will) is using r for are, u for you, 2 for to or too, 4 for for, etc. THAT'S what I have a problem with.
For everything else, just be a bit more self conscious about what you're typing. In other words, don't make it a point to over use acronyms in your posts and I won't care. And also at least try to make your posts somewhat coherient in making sentences instead of long run-ons. THAT'S ALL I ASK. If you err on the wrong side of what I think is good, I'll simply correct the post. Unless doing so is a nightmare, in which it will be deleted.

Once again, it's only THREE THINGS. It's not nearly as much as alot of other places (read: over 2/3 of forums out there).

On one forum, here are the punishments:
If you use any acronym other than lol (and even then you better only use it every once in a while), 20% warn.
If you lack correct grammar (it's more lenient if english isn't your first language), 20% warn.
If you use "net" shorthand, ban.
If you use l33tsp34k or lamersp34k, instant 20% warn.
If you flame, ban.
If you spam, ban.
If you libel, ban.
If you scorn the admins, 40% warn.
If you over swear in your posts, 20% warn.
If you post an inappropriate link of any kind, ban.
If you make multiple accounts, ban.
If you overuse smilies, 20% warn.
And much more.

And no, that isn't a grammar police forum. That is a forum for RPG maker. Furthermore, there are no second chances. Once your warn hits 100% (yes, it can be lowered), you are banned, and with any banning, you'll stay banned unless you can somehow convince the admins you can make good again (I think it's happened twice this year). And guess what? There are alot of forums like this. Compared to this, what I request is a cakewalk.

So do yourself a favor. Especially if you plan on joining other forums, try, try, TRY to follow my three guidelines. Just be a bit more self-conscious about your posts. It will help you greatly in the long run.

This thread depresses me. The initial rant was fine, but all the nine year olds replying in AIMspeak deserve a good slapping. Initially, I was going to defend mimi's post, as although it is utter bollocks, I didn't it was spam, but having read it over, I have confirmed it is utter bollocks, and thus his rating will be dropping :)

No, it's fun, they're just more strict about grammar and posts (maybe you'd call it more mature?). At one time, they had a huge onslaught of unreadable posts, and coincidentally, at the same time, an influx of spam that was enough to crash the server. Thus, they put those rules into place and enforce them. Since then, they havn't had many problems. Everybody gets along (except RPG Advocate, the spawn of hell :P), everyone has a good time, and best of all, you can actually understand what everyone's saying.
