If you use anons because you think it's the right thing to do, then that's your choice. If you're using anons because you fear the other users, then I don't hold out any respect for you.

That way makes even less sense :/. Personally, I don't give my opinions out at school. It's not that I'm afraid of what people will think, it's that I don't feel they're entitled to it unless they ask me directly. Thus, I do it because of what I feel, not what I fear.

Personally I think you should have the choice about if you want to rate anonymously. That seems fair really.

I think that if we could get some more base reasons in the form, then we should just get rid of the "custom reason" box. Then, you have to click at least SOMETHING for the rating to go through. If there's something else, you can always manually PM them (for something good), or, well... if it's bad there should be enough defaults to successfully articulate your distaste.

Also, it should check to stupidity reasons like: You were rated down for being friendly and spamming.

In other words, make it so that you can't have both a positive and negative segment in the pm. Probably a good idea.

Anyway, i find it annoying that for the location you can only choose forum, comments pages, shoutbox, word association and chat. There should also be other things, for example the NES.

Overall, there should be lots of more reasons to choose from. When there are enough reasons, it should check to see if you have at least one reason in each of the groups. Then, as Glenn also said, we could get a rid of the "custom reason" box.

Regarding the Anonymous Ratings, i thought maybe new users shouldn't be able to rate anonymously while the normal users have a choice.

I like the custom reason box. It goes straight to the point why they got rated down. I always use it. I sometimes even link them to the thread they were being the most stupid in.

Then god have mercy on us all!

Anyways, seems like a good idea to stop annoymous ratings all together. But must give a valid reason why so that user that was rated down, find out where they went wrong and why they were rated down.
So no other bad doings can be done

Why remove the custom reason box? You can never be as exact as you can with the custom reason box only using checkboxes.

I say keep he custom box. But add a drop down menu to choose which thread he/she spammed/insulted etc in so the user knows what he done
