I know this is a bit late from the 11th but in time for remembrance sunday. Tis round the corner and i think it is befitting to have a thread on your thoughts about remembrance day , WW1 or 2 or anything like that.
Also say if you have or will be wearing a poppy.

Yesterday was remembrance DAY. sunday is Remembrance Sunday. I've to go 2 a church service 4 it where all the cadet forces and the british legion are there. I will be marching to the church and the memorial

I never understood why people would cal it veterans day - veterans implies old people and old people obviously didnt die in the war - they are the ones who survivied...

nah i dont get that either. Mind you almost 90% of those who take part in remembrance ceremonies are...old people. Mainly the Royal British legion or any other alternatve for other countries

I've never heard it called Veterans Day in the UK. Is it a USA thing? If so, then that explains your answer, RM:P

My mum has been researching family history since she was quite young. We recently discovered graves of some people with my mother's madien name. We recieved details on how 2 brothers died in WWI on the 11th...One was brutally killed with machine guns along with hundreds of other soldiers because their bombardment didn't take them out, as expected. We're not quite sure if they're relatives or not, but they probably are distant relatives.

no they are not, i know i took part in it. there was the TA, the air cadets ,sea cadets, army cadets (me), the venture scouts, the scouts, the cub scouts, the beavers, the brownies, st. Jhons ambulance and the veterans
