This trimester at university I did a course in IT Project Management. We were put into groups and our group did a website for Idesi Consultancy Ltd. We had to do all kinds of documents and planning and things just for a little website, because it's the project and planning part that we were learning in the course.

I wouldn't bother posting this except that it might help to get the website noticed by search engines! There's not much point in saying if you think the website is crap or if you think it needs improving. Oh and maybe some of you might want to migrate to New Zealand

ok then, i will. Tis layout is a prime candidate for some proper semantic coding, xhtml or html doesnt matter - your html source should contain only information and no presentational data, making it accessible to almost all users.

You have a doctype on the page yet it doesnt validate, this shouldnt be a convenience, a doctype and a valida document should be necessities - especially for a comercial/professional site.

In fact, closer inspection reveals that the 'site' is merely an arragnement of tables, no amount of meta tags is going to make up for this shortfall in the code. "google is blind" this means that it effectly sees your website as empty, not a great idea really. Turn off images and you just get a big black page - not alt text or graceful degradation.

You may be aware of new legislation being introduced in the US and UK and most likely elsewhere as well that requires all busniesses to make their products/services available to all customers, including those who are disabled - a blind user with a screen reader your register your site as a blank page; paving the way for a possible lawsuit (afaik no-one has yet been proscecuted for this but it is possible)

heh, delving a little deeper shows that only the font page is 100% images, the other pages arent so bad, my bad there.

Thanks ReadMe. Yeah in a nutshell we were lazy by not doing alt text. At least it wouldn't take much effort to have the pages validate if we get around to it. =D In some ways it is a professional website but then we're not getting paid for it.

So the table layout is the presentational data, wouldn't really know what to do about that or why


Lol I get sick of New Zealand because it's too cold sometimes where I live. Our climate is rather average. You'd probably still get burnt because of the holes in the ozone.
