I posted this here before but it was lost so here it is again. Also posted it on cl2k.
I was interested in having a go at programming in C# so through university I got hold of Visual Studio (for programming in Microsoft .NET). I figured if I'm gonna make something with this I might as well make something useful, so I made a program called WAgame.chat. It lets you view the chat messages of an online WAgame file.
The only problem with using C# is that it's all a bit new, and most of you probably don't have 'Microsoft .NET Framework Version 1.1' which is necessary for running C# applications.
If any of you do have .NET Framework 1.1 you can download this small version of WAgame.chat - it's 7KB
If you don't have .NET Framework 1.1 then the above won't work. Here's what to do:
Download .NET Framework 1.1 - it's over 20MB and unpacks to about 100MB or something, but it means that you can run all these new programs and you won't just waste space over time with a number of downloads such as the one below. Note: Microsoft suggests that ITnewbs acquire .NET Framework 1.1 via Windows Update instead. Once you have it, the small version of WAgame.chat above should work.
Yes I could probably program a similar thing in Java and a small download version would work for almost everybody, but the whole point in the first place was that I wanted to have a go at C#.
I'm no HeXpert on WAgame files or anything, the code I wrote for interpreting what's in the file is kinda crude. So you might find that a few replays don't quite work right, if you find one of those then post it up or send it to me. Likely errors would be weird chat msgs that appear in this prog but not in the replay when you watch it, or a player who played in the game is not shown when you load it into the prog (so the player count is less).

sweet. 7KB is pretty small for a program, but this is pretty simple, too.
i just tried it on a game and it missed a player, and every time the player spoke it didn't print the player's name, it would just print ": (whatever they said)."
for those who don't know, if you have xp and regularly update, you should have .NET Framework 1.1.

How regularly? I haven't got another update since I uninstalled that Service Patch 2. Was it before that routine?

Ok everyone should just get framework, the packaged version expired and I can't be bothered getting another program and all that. All cool people should have framework

The program is kinda old, I don't think it really works any more. That's why there's no link.
