um, I would very much doubt that you can't make a background transparent in psp, it's just that you haven't found out how yet.
I don't use psp, so I can't really tell you, but it's normally fairly easy to do once you know how.
It's probably something like selecting the bit you want to be transparent, and pressing the del. key, as you can do in photoshop. You would probably have to have the right settings too.

assuming that it is the same as PSP7, just select transparent as the background colour when u are creating a new file.

are you saving your files as gif? gif & png are the only webby formats that support transparency. there's another one called mng too but it's not very widely supported

getting there... It's surprisingly complicated, and I'm a little bogged down, but it should be done soon, when I can get my mind round the confusion.

when saving your file use the export buttons, they can be found in the file menu and on the web toolbar. If you use the export as GIF or export as PNG buttons you get the option so set transparency.
You can also go to colours -> set palette transparency then save as a GIF using the normal save function.

well ty read me...but before u posted i figured out how to get transparency on Psp 8. When u go to Save As save it as .gif and to the right theres an Option button. Click it. Then click on Run Optimizer and u can fool around with it that way...

I used to use Photostudio until I realized it does something to your pictures. Everytime you do something to it, it darkens it (every so slightly... you can hardly tell). So when you work on a picture for a while, depending on what you're doing, you might notice the quality is much worse. Anyway, I stopped using that as soon as I noticed that and have stuck with Photoshop ever since.
