From what it seems from the IP shame thread and other places here, a lot of people create additional accounts to rate themselves up. Also, a few users lately have been whining that every newb can rate them down, etc. So is it possible to make so that users who haven't made at least 100 posts cannot rate up/down anyone. This way only forum regulars will be able to affect user ratings, and you won't be able to rate yourself up with a new account

Good idea, 100 posts is a bit much though.

Everyone who's visiting the forum regulary has 100 posts or gets up to 100 fast enough. For example, this thread was my 100 post and now i officially have the power to rate

Still, it is annoying when some newbie doesn't know you well and sees one post he thinks is spam, he might rate you down for it. This may be annoying for some people, DJ Canada for example, since he gets rated down mainly for offtopic page comments

I was up to 15 few days ago mainly becuase I suppose poeple felt pity for me, now it seems I drop 1 every 24 hours, so its only my assumption that one person is doing it.


but with all truth, I have never been as involved with the forums as much as I have been the past few days. But yes, before that, (except when I first started posting in the forums, and was reviving old threads), I think alot of my ratting droped becuase of off forum reasons. (IE saying something poeple disagreed on in the comments or complaining about my rating to begin with)


100 posts seems like a fair amount actully, I didn't really get the hang of the forums till around 85-100 posts.

Another thought to me was, what is to stop 5 or 8 poeple from droping your rating down for the same ONE reason?

What I'm thinking is USERS can drop ratings by .5 instead of a whole one, or 1 instead of 2 for the 17+ rate. A drop of 1 (or 2 depending on your rating) must be requested by an admin or someone who IS of higher rating and/or given "special powers" by the admins, as say, a prefered individual.

But its is needlessy complex that way so it ain't gonna happen

And good idea Spider. Though, I agree with Dingbats. 100 posts is a bit too much.

considering the number of users that stay in touch enough to know whats going on, 100 is a fine number, but if thats too much, then 75.... at the very leasy 50 then...


I remeber when I started I did alot of stupid posts, so I think 100 is still a good even number.

All in All it is a good idea, we just need to agree on a set number of posts.

He posts slowly, but has been here for a long time. 50 is a good # for people, who post less.

50 is good, but I just dont trust some of the folk to handle a rating responiblty out there out there.

Mabey if their rating is 8+ or 7+ when they have around 50 posts..... that should balance it out a little Im thinking. and having 100 would be, 'rate when you feel like'.

Or we can go another direction... You may not rate untill after 30 days. Agreed that some poeple post slow, but if you keep in touch once in a while, a month is a good period of time.

DJ, anyone can rate you down, but at least we will know, they're in the general population, if they have 50 posts.

I think 30 days is still a good idea rather than number of posts.
