oh hello. This thread is back i see.
meia my specs are as follows.
5700 ultra ( getting old these days bought at xmas )
tis an athlon 2500 XP
1GB ram
NF7-S mobo
120GB Sata drive.
Just the one cd/wr that plays DVDs.
PAckaged in a cheapo case
Ill post some pics of it after im done doing some work on it this week. more lights! and hopefully a green psu with the biohazard grills i orderred. woo!
if ure tight on cash though i highly reccomend AMD, though they arent the best for multitasking my processor was under 50 quid and i overclocked it to 2.4GHZ ( over the 3200 XP speed ) so its pretty damn good.

yeah, i was looking at the XP2500M (the mobile version) because i hear it overclocks very well and is fairly cheap...i was also thinking of waiting till christmas ( ) and getting a 3500 or 3800+ AMD 64 socket 939

totally. I would go with either of those options.
the mobiles do overclock like crazy.
i have read people getting 2.6GHz easy on air!
the mobiles overclock so weel because they are designed to run cooler, and they are still mutiplier unlocked.

this motherboard is awsome. so much to configure in the bios, and a special prog to update the bios should u need to. I bought after hearing nothing but good things, but if your set on an asus or gigabyte, id go with asus. The last gigabyte board i saw was in a review when it blew while overclocking.
what are you looking at for gfx?

i could go abit too now
i was thinking a 9800pro as funda kinds dictate thats the best i can do...although i know nothing about the nvidia cards , they seem to perform a bit worse for the price though?
edit: this would be easier on msn

just to add to our msn conversation, and to not leave this one in the middle
The 9800 pro is the most value atm. It was top of the line last year. If i had a spare 130 i would be ordering one too!
another diff note. My pc is all over the floor, and i have spliced my green psu fan into the old ones place. I think i did it correctly. Well im still alive.
Just waiting on the grills to come in the post today and ill screw it back together.
