What is that? Is it from the TV show, or is it fake?

heh, I think t17 made up the word poxel, as a cross between pixel and voxel - but I'm not sure..

I doubt it's real tho ;).

Actually, that isn't a faked simpsons episode. I remember in one of them Lisa was trying to teach maggie some new words and that has jogged my memory. I think :?

Although the 'p' looks slightly more clearer and a bit more thicker than the rest of the words on that so it could be an editted one.

The real word that Lisa used was Dodecahedron, I just replaced it with Poxel :)

Voxels are always the same shape. When they're different shapes and deformable they become like polygons, hence the word poxel.

A voxel has only x and y to decide where it is on a 2D area, but a voxel also has a height so that different heights create a 3D kinda landscape. :D Monster Truck Madness uses voxels, want a picture?

Put polygons around a voxel, replace its height with a 3rd dimension and you get a poxel.

What you're describing is height mapping, which I think is different to voxels. Wait, I'll get a screenshot...

edit: I used vB code. See what happens when you browse two forums at once...

This is a screenshot from a voxel system demo I have:

ah that's right, voxels have a height but it's different from just height mapping
