When can i get a free decent cd - mp3 ripper that will actually work , i hav tried all the free ones on download.com and they come up with either illeagal operations or blue screen of death:-( can nebody help ?

Try Google. Maybe you've already done that, though.

Windows media player ones are the wrong format of mp3. I tried this.

Download MusicMatch Jukebox. The whole ripping procedure you have to go through is somewhat redundant, but it works pretty well. That's how I ripped my MP3s.

Yes. I would also recommend MusicMatch Jukebox. That's what I used to rip my first thousand mp3s or so. I use Winamp 5.02 now (although it wouldn't let me rip the new Incubus CD... any ideas on that?).

Open MusicMatch Jukebox. Now go throught the menu to this: Options --> View --> Recorder. Click that button, and the recorder dialog box will appear. Providing you have a CD in, it will list the number of tracks on the album. Just enter the CD name, the artist, and the track names (either by hand or using that internet source thingy that automatically applies it).

If you want to alter the quality of the recorder, then do this: Options --> Recorder --> Quality, and then click on the quality you want.

To convert a currently existing MP3 to a different quality level (you can even convert .wav files to mp3 and vice versa), do this: Options --> File --> Convert. Be very careful what you do at this point, because it is VERY easy to accidentally overwrite the file your converting.

FREERIP MP3 Is a brilliant one i have been using that ever since i got a cdwriter and i have had my writer around 3/4 years now.

and yes i do know you said you had tried them all maybe you missed this one though, and btw the download is less than 1mb so it will fit on floppy disk so you can take it to m8s and stuff ya kno.

I hav got winamp5 and think its the best but i need to register it to make it rip cd's as mp3 files

i use creative media source, it works with my mp3 player ( 30 GB ) so i never burnt music CDS in a long time. haha

i registered my version of winamp and use that now...
