he meant he meant for the program to take a picture of the image and then save it for your use. its not very practical.

well there is i guess, it involves an automated system of taking a screenshot, cropping it and then uploading it. Not really practical or viable.

Depends... maybe if the thing was made in JavaScript then the script could pass the co-ordinates to some PHP, which would then reassemble the image... tough though.
