That's right. I said it. Firefox sux wang. Firefox used to be good before the 1.x was made it actually was one of the faster web browsers with great features and didn't crash all the fucking time. Not anymore. Statistics show that Firefox is the second worst broswer ever made. I'm not trying to convert you guys to switch out of Firefox, no point in that, I tried converting and found that unpossible.

Firefox is actually slower than any other browser out there now, I've done my tests and Firefox is really, really slow now. It's even the slowest at closing the damn browser.

Firefox was never secure. Why? It's open source, anyone can look at the code and be all like "omg, I see something those noobs missed. I'm going to attack it now".

Firefox is annoying. It's true if you're picky like me. Once you download Firefox you have to either go to about:config to set up tabbed browsing however you want it or download a fuckin' extension. And scince most Firefox extensions do some small functions you have to download another few hundred extensions to get Firefox working how you want it to. Yes it's true Firefox extensions can do pretty awsome things, (in fact they do things way better than tool bars) but those are the only exeptions. Firefox also takes too much memory and shitty computers liek mine lock up (not really...). Firefox also crashes the most. When it does crash, sometimes you have to check the system processes if it's still running so you can open it up again. Even when it crashes and you can't tell if it's running or not, it eats memory like a fucking.... thingy. Also the fastest way to get Firefox to close is using system processes. But that's inconvienent also.

We were sucked into a trap. Yes we were. When Firefox actually was faster, secure and stuffs, everyone ran to use it. Now that it's been updating, no one has noticed that it's becoming worse than before and we now believe that Firefox is the same as it was in the past. Not anymore :(. It's pretty disappointing for this to happen, but it will improve again later on, guarunteed. Just when is the question.

Also remember that Firefox was built for Linux, so on Windows of course Firefox will be bad. For Windows, Opera is the solution.

Anyways if you're not convinced go to http://firefoxmyths.com and if you're still not convinced, I salute you (for being patient for Firefox to get better)or I laugh at you (for being a fanboy). If you're not being a fanboy or being really patient, I really don't care because that's the same way I feel right now. Turns out I <3 Firefox too much and I'm attached to it's awsomeness.

So for now, I'm going to be testing out diffrent browsers, Mozilla Suite, Internet Explorer 7 (Beta 2), Avant Browser, and Opera. I'm going to give out some reviews to help me decide and possibly you on choosing a new browser.

I apologise to those who I made cry.

Edit: Surprise, surprise. I made this thread in the wrong place. Could someone please move it into the offtopic?

Edit 2:
Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2: 2/5
Really bad. First thing I've noticed is that the interface is ugly and confusing. Their tabbed browsing system sucks. Instead of opening new tabs in tabs, it opens them in windows. Pretty fucked up to me. it's hard to find the browser functions, it all sucks. Hard to migrate to if you don't know what you're doing.
An image![/sp oiler]

Another very noticable thing is that it also eats memory. It's not as bad as Firefox, but this time it's actually noticable. As I'm typing this the text comes out alot later than when I actually type it. Even the screenshot I took is messed because of it's stupid memory eating.

It does run faster than Firefox (when loading a page that is), but it renders the Firefox friendly sites incorrectly. But that's a fanboy issue.

Can't find a pop-up blocker or an ad-blocker. Horrible web browser.

Some good points is that it has a phishing thingy that tells you if a site is suspisious or fake. But it doesn't work to well. Most users won't even notice the phishing warning the put out. Firefox's Google extension does a great job on it.

It's also not skin-friendly. It got a 2/5 instead of a 1/5 because I felt sorry for Microsoft.

Edit 5:
Opera 8.5: 4.99/5
Pretty damn fast browser. In fact, it's really fast. In everything! Very compact interface, built in email client, some trash thing to recover tabs (although history can do that too...). It renders all sites except for some Firefox specific sites correctly (but there are diffrent rendering options anyways). It uses 75% less memory than Firefox, and is perfect in every way! Doesn't have too much security, so Opera is more for advanced users and not retarded retards.
An image![/sp oiler]
It also has some features that I thought only the PSP Browser had. It resizes whole pages. So it's great for small resolutions.

The controls used in Opera are diffrent though, tabbed browsing uses diffrent keys and shortcuts.

I've never met a browser like this before. It's great!

Edit 9:
Avant Browser v10.2: 3.5/10
This browser is built on the Internet Explorer engine. It's not that bad though. It does have alot of features and they're all working l33tly. It has a nice easy to use interface. If fact, you get to set it up the first time you start the program (well, onlly some of it).
An image![/sp oiler]

My favorite feature is the Multi-Window Browsing. Multiple Browser windows without filling up the taskbar. The controls are really similar to using tabs on Firefox, exept middle click doesn't open up a new window. Middle cilck makes a loud beeping noise every few seconds and then you click on a link to open a new "window". This browser is also missing some RSS features. But it's a decent web browser in terms of speed.
I really don't recomend using this program if you have been using Firefox for the past few months. This browser will take a while into getting used to.

Uninstall all your extensions and see if Firefox still crashes. I was getting crashes recently, so I uninstalled a couple of extensions I wasn't using anyway, and now I'm not getting crashes.

Note that the amount of memory listed in Windows Task Manager is not always the actual amount of memory a program is using. I know this because I'm a software programmer. Often some of the memory has been freed up by the program but not reclaimed by Windows yet because Windows doesn't need it yet. When a program appears to be "eating memory", it is usually doing no such thing. Usually it's because it is freeing up old memory and claiming new memory which Windows is happily offering to it. If Firefox really does start using a lot of memory, I would guess that 99% of the time it is because of a problem with an extension, or possibly a problem with Firefox not being installed properly.

I like using Firefox best despite the bad things about it. 5 or so extensions is enough for me. The more you install, the more unstable it will be. The main reason I prefer Firefox is because of the CSS support being more up to date than IE. IE6 is so old it makes web designers cry, and IE7 beta2 is just ugly.

Opera is good and I would get along quite happily using it. Use Opera. The main reason I don't prefer Opera is because they cut corners to make it the fastest. It uses Java differently than the other browsers, and I don't think it handles plugins as good. I also think it's more likely to crash than Firefox with no extensions. And imperfect websites don't display as well in Opera, just look at BTP! :P

I suppose that's one "good" thing about my degree (aero engineering), there aren't too many terms/words/etc that have "alternative" meanings.
What, like cockpits, turboshafts, thrust, nozzles, corkscrews, ram drag, payload, flaps, and wind tunnels?

You missed out maxthon abd ;)

But yeah I agree is opera is a pretty damn kickass browser, but it's just missing that huge customisability of the toolbars that i'm just so used to with firefox I just can't make the switch. I want the adress bar on the top toolbar with "file edit view etc etc" and the search bar to the right of that. Buttons on the left under "file edit view etc etc" for forward/back etc and bookmark buttons to the right.

Bloopy is right about the crashes tho, extensions were causing crashes for me before. You should try removing any that you just don't really use.

oh and IE7 looks so fugly because your visual style is so freaking fugly

I've never once had any of the problems you've listed. I quite like firefox and I get almost no spyware while using it, so your claims are only based on the use of a lot of additions to firefox, and adding things to just about every program (by my experience anyway) makes it work worse and worse.

if you have so many problems with the way a browser works, design your own.

Most of your reasons for ditching firefox are just tight. Uninstall ALL extensions and you'll find it probably wont crash and it will be a bit faster. If that fails reinstall firefox. The eating memory and slowness is probably just you because it not me. Albeit, its the slowest program to start up ever, but you didnt mentiont that.

Opera sounds good, I will look into it anyway. But firefox does not suck. It has a cool name. Opera sounds posh.

Most extensions, such as fasterfox and adblock have memory leaks. If you're using adblock you should seriously get rid of it, devolopment was stopped on it ages ago. Use adblock plus instead.

Here is a list of someone's extensions which I think is veryusful for quickly finding extensions that you may have removed or if you're installing on a fresh profile.

is it me, or do you have duplicates of extensions?

and why do you have an image zoomer when you have colorzilla which has that function?

I'm guessing "reload every" reloads every tab-tab mix plus can do that"

fireFTP-I don't trust that at all.

IEtab-memory leaks.

funkycache? eh? what the hell does that do? o.O

o - FireFTP is great - after its last update it doesnt crash at all - its near perfect

IETab leaks memory?? hmmmm

funkycache clears the cache - but now i remember Web Developer does that now

Now to delete those silly extensions

for clearing the cache: ctrl+shirft+delete or tools>>clear private data and select cache.

I'm sure fireFTP doesn't crash at all but that's besides the point. I'd just trust a piece of well known software with my password and such over some random firefox extension.

btw to reload all tabs with tab mix plus just rightclick on a tab then select reload all tabs.

Meh, I'm either going with Avant (because there isn't an extension for multi-window browsing in one broswer) or Opera (just because it's better). THe only reason is because I feel like being diffrent. Is that a good excuse?

I've made my choice! Opera 9 Beta is my choice because it's fast. It's not IE. And you have an option of multi-window browsing or tabbed browsing! :D:D I promise I won't fanboy it like Firefox. And I'll treat it nicely. (It's actually displaying BTP properly.)

Is it possible to rearrange the toolbars around and stuff?

It needs to have the arrangement shown in this image:
SpoilerSpoiler (Click to Expand)Spoiler

I might use opera if it can do that, but then again i'd lose the amazing smoothalternative theme that firefox has..
