one of my friends on messenger unintentionally sent me a strange msdos file. Ihad stupidly set my messenger to automatically accept any file. So it downloaded onto my computer. From there it sent itself to all my contacts and crashed messenger to the point of freezing the computer. I have isolated it with the help of antivirus but it denies acces to anything or anyone trying to delete it. So if I sign into messenger it will automatically wreak havoc.

First things first, I urge you all to not accept any msdos programme. The file I got was name Me and You! but it could be given other name as well. ah yes, and the real details:

Object Name: C:/John Kerry as super chicken.scr
Virus Name: Bloodhound.W32.1

These are the details that norton antivirus gave me when it said it was unable to repair the file. I'm going to see if I can delete it from my hard drive since it seems to have been planted directly into it. But I still desperatly need help. Im sure someone knows what to do...?

EDIT: When i looked in the Cdrive, there were a large collection of program that had downloaded with the actual program, all had very strange names

EDIT: It has no removal tool for bloodhound. Im back to square one...

System Restore or format

Exactly my thoughts candeh, but i forget how to restore

It turn out bloodhound.W32.1 is a fairly new virus which symantec dont know much about. All I can do for now is quarentine it for them.

I'll do a system restore if all else fails, just tell me what to do.

There are hundreds of files like them that get sent over Messenger all the time.

a system restore is when you restore you computer to an earyler date.... say some time last week

and system reformat is when you completely wipe your hard drve so that you start from scratch...
