The egg, whatever came before the egg was not quite a chicken. This is because the mutation must occur during meiosis, so therefore the mutation will occur in the young chicken, when it's in the egg.

My theory is; the egg, because whatever the egg was wasn't quite a chicken, may have been another thing.

The chicken didn't mutate. What makes a species different to another is that they can't mate with eachother. The genotype is passed on to the offspring and not the phenotype. Therefore the mutation occured during meiosis, so therefore the egg came first.

i think "egg" cam first becuz all lifeforms other than plants base their biological form on protein. egg is pretty loaded in protein so the "egg" is probably stating the microbes that started life on earth which are protein based organisms

chickenlike creature = millions of cells, probability of them all mutating into the same chicken DNA? ~0

chickenlike embryo = a few cells, maybe still just one, probability of them all mutating into the same thing? pretty damn good in comparison.
