Although it is possible to use onion skinning and using the marquee tool and cutting and then pasting and then editing the colour of it. But that technqiue doesn't allow for as much detail as the frame by frame edit. And sometimes when adding additional things to a sprite, the only way you can do it, is to do frame by frame...
